‘2 bin 1 bag’ was the concept submitted by a citizen, which Hasiru Dala tried and tested in 1000 households. Karnataka High Court ruled that this method should be followed. The local government has embraced this concept as the way of waste segregation in Bangalore, effectively transforming it into the law.

Recyclables are sorted, graded and traded. The Segregated Combustible Fraction is sent for co-processing in cement kilns. Between April and October 2017, 319 tonnes were sent for co-processing in Bangalore alone, diverting it from landfills, with 21 centers participating. This system recycles about 33 tonnes per day.
