Dear friends,

It is now more than 5 years since we launched the review to create and share with you our experience and adven-tures.

As much as our goals were sweet and attractive when we started this magazine, it was not always easy. But because of our courage and stubborness, we are proud today to turn the leaves of the issue no.10.

Some people say travel often and stop worrying about the obstacles on the road. Likewise, our company constantly meets new challenges and experiences new adventures trying to become excellent. The secret of our success is in dedicated work and continuous fight to lift the quality and availiability of our services to the higher lever.

It is my pleasure to use the opportunity and present you our new service center in ACI Marina Opatija; this was our step forward in providing better and faster service to our clients.

Imagination and stubborness lie behind our results and our projects we are very proud of. In this issue we will once again try to bring closer you and the sea, because sea is our inspiration and our leading idea in life and in business.

Za nama je 5 godina otkako smo pokrenuli ovu publika-ciju, od kako stvaramo i dijelimo s vama naše doživljaje i iskustva.

Koliko god naši ciljevi prilikom pokretanja ove publikacije bili slatki i privlačni, put do njih nije bio lagan. No na tu našu odvažnost i ustrajnost danas, listajući 10. broj, može-mo biti ponosni.

Kažu da često trebamo putovati ne brinuti s čim ćemo se sresti. Upravo tako i mi kao tvrtka neprestano otkrivamo nove izazove i upuštamo se u nove avanture težeći izvr-snosti. Ključ našeg uspjeha leži u predanom radu i činjeni-ci da kontinuirano radimo na unaprjeđenju nivoa kvalitete i dostupnosti naših usluga.

Veliko mi je zadovoljstvo u ime redakcije InterAdria Magazina pozdraviti vas na prvim stranicama jubilarnog 10. broja.

Vjerujem da smo vam uspjeli približiti svijet mora i plovidbe, njihove ljepote ali i zamke koje skrivaju. Kroz lepezu tema koje se međusobno isprepliću svakim izdanjem nastojimo otkriti nešto novo i zanimljivo. Od prvog broja pa do danas trudimo se zadržati razinu kvalitete, estetike i dalje podizati ljestvicu uspješnosti svakim novim izdanjem.

Ova priča naravno ne bi bilo moguća bez podrške kolega, suradnika i velikog razumijevanja našeg direktora. Dear readers,It is our great pleasure to welcome you on the first pages of the jubilee 10th edition of InterAdria Magazine.

We believe we have succeeded to introduce you the world of the sea and navigation, present their beauties and reveal their hidden traps.

Through a variety of intertwined topics we have been trying to discover something new and interesting in every edition.

From the first issue till today we kept the level of quality and aesthetics. We are continuing to raise the bar of success with each new release.

However, the project would never have existed without sup-port from our colleagues and partners, and true understand-ing we receive from our director. I will use this occasion to express my gratefulness for the motivation and support he has been giving us since 2009 when we started to develop the concept of InterAdria Magazine.

Of course, I would also like to say thank you to our dear readers. We launched this review for you and you are the reason we exist.

The service center is equipped with the latest tools and tech-nologies. It offers wide range of Yamaha, Volvo Penta and Yanmar spare parts as well as nautical equipment.

23.Kastafskokulturnoleto23. po redu, festival ‘’Kastafsko kulturno leto’’ je ove godine nastavio tradiciju najduže ljetne kulturne manifestacije u ovom dijelu Hrvatske. U gotovo puna tri mjeseca (od početka lipnja do kraja kolovoza), održano je 9 koncerata, 6 predstava, 6 filmskih večeri, 2 književne večeri, dvije izložbe, četiri besplatne radionice i 7 partnerskih programa (Melodije Istre i Kvarnera, Kastav Blues Fest, Čansonfest, Kastav Film Festival i dr.). Događanjima je prisustvovalo više od 7.000 osoba, što je zasigurno ostavilo primjetan trag u kulturnom, turističkom i ugostiteljskom kontekstu. Među ostalima, u Kastvu su svoj umjetnički rad prezentirali jedan od najboljih vokala današnjice Massimo, najzabavniji hrvatski sastav Jinx, svjetski popularni The Bambi Molesters, vrhunski Miroslav Tadić i braća Teofilović, naš najbolji django gitarist Damir Kukuruzović, glumci Marko Torjanac i Nataša Janjić i dr. Uz nekoliko premijera poput ambicioznih projekata Atma Mundi, (Po)kušajmo priču i Točke sjećanja te nagrađivanih predstava Pacijent dr. Freuda i Muškarci su s Marsa, a žene su s Venere, moglo bi se reći kako je program bio raznovrsan i prilagođen svačijem ukusu. ‘’23. Kastafsko kulturno leto’’ ove su godine financijski i logistički podržali donatori i sponzori, od kojih treba spomenuti Grad Kastav, Primorsko-goransku županiju, Privrednu banku Zagreb, Triglav osiguranje, Cedar i dr.

��rd Kastav cultural summerFor the 23rd consecutive year, ‘’Kastav Cultural Summer’’ continued the tradition of being the longest summer cultural event in this part of Croatia. In almost three months (from June to August), 9 concerts, 6 theater plays, 6 movie nights, 2 literary evenings, 2 exhibitions, 4 workshops and 7 partner programs (Melodies of Istria and Kvarner, Kastav Blues Fest, Chansonfest, Kastav Film Festival etc.) were held. Over 7.000 visitors attented the events, which certainly left a noticeable mark on culture, tourism and catering. Among other performers, the city of Kastav saw one of the best male vocalists of today - Massimo, the very entertaining Jinx, world popular The Bambi Molesters, top-notch Miroslav Tadić and Teofilović brothers, Croatia’s best django guitarist Damir Kukuruzović, top actors Marko Torjanac and Nataša Janjić and others. Combined with several premieres such as projects Atma Mundi, Tasty tales and Points of memories, and awarded theater plays such as ‘’Dr. Freud’s Patient’’ and ‘’Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus’’, you could conclude that the program was diverse and intended for everyone to enjoy. ‘’23rd Kastav Cultural Summer’’ was financially backed up by the City of Kastav, Primorsko-goranska County, Privredna banka Zagreb, Triglav osiguranje, Cedar and others.

KastavBluesFestival2014.U jedinstvenoj atmosferi staroga grada Kastva vrhunski glazbeni doživljaj u izvedbi eminentnih imena svjetske blues scene zado-voljio je i najzahtjevnije glazbene sladokusce. Najveći i najznačajnihi hrvatski blues festival, nastao u čast co-untry blues glazbenika Philadelphia Jerry Ricksa, na četiri je lo-kacije (Kastav, Viškovo, Matulji, Čavle) od 1. do 4. kolovoza ugo-stio brojne domaće i inozemne glazbene zvijezde: The Earl Trio feat. Michael Messer (GB), Eugene Hideway Bridges (USA), Stevie Nimmo Trio (GB), Ty Le blanc �tet (USA/IT), Tony Lee King (HR), Delta Blues Gang (HR), Rory Gallagher Tribute (HR) te Alba&Leo (HR). Istu je i u prošlogodišnjem festivalskom izdanju vodio eminentni svjetski glazbenik i predavač, Michael Messer, dvostruki dobitnik BBC-jeve nagrade za akustičnog blu-es-glazbenika godine.Pridružite nam se i dogodine i uživajte u odličnoj blues kreaciji, opuštenoj atmosferi, glazbeno-edukativnoj radionici i brojnim zanimljivim izložbama. Kastav Blues Festival �01�Supreme musical experience for even the most demandingaudiences in the unique ambience of Kastav Old Town withworld-famous blues musicians.Croatia’s biggest and most significant blues festival, esta-blished in honour of the country blues musician Philadelphia Jerry Ricks, took place from 1 to 4 August in four towns (Ka-stav, Viškovo, Matulji, Čavle) and hosted a number of Croatian and international blues musicians: The Earl Trio feat. Michael Messer (GB), Eugene Hideway Bridges(USA), Stevie Nimmo Trio (GB), Ty Le blanc �tet (USA/IT), Tony Lee King (HR), Del-ta Blues Gang (HR), Rory Gallagher Tribute (HR) and Alba & Leo (HR). In addition to concerts, the Kastav Blues Festival consisted of numerous exhibitions and a free educational programme in the form of a music workshop. The last year’s workshop was led by the eminent musician and teacher Mi-chael Messer, a two-time winner of the BBC Acoustic Blues Artist of the Year award.Please come and join us next year, enjoy excellent blues mu-sic, relaxed atmosphere, musical educational workshops and interesting exhibitions.Admission is free.

Sezona puna emocijaDolaskom ljeta, otvaranjem sezone plovidbe i godišnjih od-mora zatvara se sezona nautičkih prezentacija na sajamskim manifestacijama. U redovima koji slijede donosimo vam kra-tak pregled sajmova na kojima je InterAdria SC nastupila u sezoni 2013 /14.

Cannes International Boat & Yacht show vodeća je sajamska manifestacija u Europi i predstavlja jedan on najvažnijih eve-nata u nautičkom svijetu. Od 10. do 15. rujna 2013. u samom srcu Cannesa-a posjetitelji su mogli uživati u otkrivanju naj-luksuznih noviteta za nadolazeću sezonu. Posebnost izdanja 2013. bila je i ta što je ovaj event proslavio 36. obljetnicu kon-tinuiranog održavanja. Ovu prestižnu manifestaciju brodogradilište Sessa marine iskoristilo je za predstavljanje svoje flote. Na 2 izlagačka pro-stora: u moru i na kopnu predstavljeni su vodeći modeli linija Yacht i Key Largo.

Nakon gotovo 2 godine izbivanja s nautičke scene, najstari-ji hrvatski sajam nautike, onaj u Rijeci, ponovno se vratio na „pozornicu“ pod novim imenom „Rijeka Nautic Show“. Sajam je održan od 27. do 29. rujna 2013. na prostoru luke Rijeka, točnije na gatu Karoline riječke. InterAdria SC ondje je predstavila Criuser i Key Largo linije Se-ssa marine plovila, paletu Yamahinih vanbrodskih motora i prateće opreme za servisiranje i održavanje. Na sajmu se po prvi puta široj javnosti predstavila i sestrinska tvrtka InterAdria SC Plus u suradnji s osiguravajućom kućom Allianz.

Season full of emotions With the arrival of summer - navigation and holiday season - the season of nautical fairs is closed. In the following lines we bring you a brief overview of the events where InterAdria SC participated in the season 2013/14.

Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show is the leading and one of the most important nautical fair events in Europe. In 2013 the event celebrated its 36th anniversary. From 10 to 15 September 2013 in the heart of Cannes harbour, visitors could enjoy in discovering the most luxurious novelties for the upcoming season. Shipyard Sessa marine used this pres-tigious event for the presentation of its fleet. On two exhibi-tion areas: one in the sea and one on the land the flagship models of Yacht and Key Largo line were presented.

After almost two years of absence from the nautical scenes the oldest Croatian Boat Show, the one of Rijeka, was back on the “stage” under new name “Rijeka Nautic Show”. The fair was held from 27 to 29 September 2013 in the port of Rijeka, on the pier of Karolina riječka. InterAdria SC presented there boats from Sessa marine Criuser and Key largo line as well as a range of Yamaha outboard engines and additional maintenance equipment. Its sister company InterAdria SC Plus was presented to the public for the first time at this boat show with a range of marine insurance products underwrited by Allianz insurance company.

Početak listopada u nautičkom kalendaru označava i održa-vanje nautičkog sajma u Genovi koji je ovoga puta održan u nešto kraćem terminu. Sessa marine se ondje predstavila u segmentima Yacht i Fly te modele izložila u moru. Ovaj novi koncept izlaganja, ne vezan za izlagački prostor u hali, i atrak-tivna lokacija omogućili su održavanje i niza testnih vožnji za što do sada nije postojala mogućnost.

Nakon Genove InterAdria SC predstavila je Sessa modele na jubilarnom 15. i do sada najvećem Biograd Boat Show-u, na dobro poznatoj lokaciji – Marna Kornati, Biograd na

The beginning of October in known in nautical calendar for Boat Show in Genoa, Italy. The edition of 2013 was slightly shorter than in previous years. Sessa marine presented its top models of Yacht and Fly range there. This time the vessels were exhibited in the water on very attractive location. This new concept of presentation, not tied to the exhibitors area in the hall, enabled a series of test drives for which so far there was no possibility.

After presentation in Genoa, InterAdria SC exhibited Sessa models at the 15th and the largest Biograd Boat Show ever.

Moru čime je i zatvorena jesenska sezona sajamskih mani-festacija.

Nakon kratkog zimskog zatišja na nautičkoj sceni sezona sa-jamskih izlaganja nastavljena je predstavljanjem na Zagre-bačkom sajmu nautike održanom od 19. do 23. veljače. 2014. Atraktivni modeli Key Largo 27 i Key Largo ONE izloženi ondje ostavili su upečatljiv dojam na posjetitelje.

The fair took place on well known location in marina Kornati, Biograd na Moru, Croatia. By this boat show the autumn sea-son of nautical presentations was closed.

After short winter break the season of nautical fairs contin-ued with the presentation at Zagreb Boat Show. The boat show was held from 19 to 23 February 2014. Always attractive models Key Largo 27 and Key Largo ONE exposed there left striking impression on the visitors.

Postoje dvije vrste nautičara, oni koji na svoje odredište žele stići čim brže i oni koji uživaju u svakom trenutku svo-ga putovanja. Upravo stoga brodogradi-lište ove motore odabire kao porivne sustave svojih modela. Plovilo Fly 42 dolazi na tržište opremljeno četverocilindričnim D4 motorima od 3.7 l, EVC komandama, turbo kompresorom, superchargerom i aftercoolerom zahvaljujući kojima može postići maksimalnu brzinu od 32 čvora.

Volvo Penta IPS engines are well-known for their high quality and advantages such as: reduction of CO2 emission, fuel con-sumption, noise levels below 50 %, exceptional maneuver-ability and safety, especially during mooring. Equipped with 4-cylinder engines D4 3.7-liter common-rail, with commands for EVC, turbo compressor, supercharger and after cooler, the Fly 42 will reach the maximum speed of 32 knots.

Funkcionalnost na djeluDonosimo vam test jednog od najpopularnijih Sessa mari-ne open modela - Key Largo ��.

Key Largo 27 plovilo je kojeg karakteriziraju moderan dizajn, funkcionalnost i vrhunske maritimne sposobnosti. Iako du-gačko svega 7.80 m ovo plovilo pruža brojne mogućnosti. Veoma se lako može prilagoditi zahtjevima korisnika bilo da je riječ o brzim vožnjama ili laganom krstarenju.

Zahvaljujući trupu u obliku slova „V“ plovilo je iznimno si-gurno, okretno i praktično za manevriranje. Opremljeno sa 2 Yamaha motora snage 150 ks može postići maksimalnu brzi-nu od 44 čvora.

Zahvaljujući brojnim dizajnerskim rješenjima plovilo pruža izniman komfor bilo da uživate na kokpitu, sunčate se na prednjem sunčalištu ili boravite u kabini.

Udobnost kokpita nadopunjuje prostrana sofa u obliku slova „L“ i stol od tikovine koji stvaraju salon na otvorenom. Even though it is long only 7.80 m, this vessel offers numer-ous possibilities. It can be easily customized according to boat owners demands, depending on whether they prefer a fast ride or a slow cruise.

The “V” shaped hull of Key Largo 27 is extremely safe, “dry”, tender and maneuverable. Equipped with 2 Yamaha 150 HP engines boat can easely reach the maximum speed of 44 knots.

Due to the numerous design solutions vessel provides excep-tional comfort whether you are enjoying in the cockpit, sun-bathing on the front sundeck or relaxing in a cabin.

InterAdria SC servisni team izdvojio je nekoliko uputa za održavanje vanbrodskog motora kako bi se produžio nje-gov vijek i uočile eventualne promjene u njegovom radu, te pravovremeno interveniralo i spriječilo oštećenja po-gonskog sustava.

Prije svake uporabe vanbrodskog motora treba provjeriti nivo ulja u motoru, napraviti vizualni pregled cijevi goriva između motora i rezervoara radi mogućih oštećenja ili propuštanja. Valja provjeriti i pritegnutost motora na zrcalo plovila, napra-viti kratku vizualnu provjeru lopatica propelera ako su ošte-ćene, ili ako je oko njih omotano pr. kakvo uže. Naravno, valja se uvjeriti da u rezervoaru ima dovoljno goriva za planirano putovanje. Ukoliko motor nakon upotrebe ne ostaje na plovilu uputno ga je isprati slatkom vodom: oprati vanjske dijelove, propele-ra i sustav hlađenja.

Održavanje vanbrodskog motora

InterAdria SC service team has pointed out several mainte-nance tips about how to prolong the outboard engine’s life, identify possible changes in its work and intervene on time to prevent damage of the propulsion system.

Before using the outboard engine one should always check the oil level in the engine, visually inspect the tube between the engine and the fuel tank for damage or leaks. The tie between the engine and the boat’s transom should be checked. A brief visual inspection of the propeller must be done to detect possible damage, or the possibility of so-mething being wrapped around it, like a rope. Of course, one must be sure that there is enough fuel in the tank for the pla-nned trip.

If the engine does not remain on the boat after use, it is ad-visable to wash it out with the fresh water: wash the exterior parts, propeller and cooling system.

Vrlo je važno pridržavati se i pratiti propisane servisne inter-vale. Prvi redovni servis četverotaktnog vanbrodskog motora radi se nakon 20 sati rada. Važno je da servis na motoru napra-vi ovlašteni serviser. Ovim servisom provjerava se kompletno stanje motora. Serviser će između ostalog provjeriti filter go-riva kako bi se otkrile i uklonile eventualne nećistoće, provje-riti ostale dijelove radnog sklopa i napraviti izmjenu tekućina. Također, poduzet će preventivne mjere - provjeriti stanje cink protektora kako bi bili sigurni da je motor spreman i siguran za daljnju upotrebu. Nakon odrađenog prvog servisa slijede servisni intervali odr-žavanja u razmacima od po 100 sati rada ili periodično svakih 12 mjeseci prilikom kojih se ponovno vrši detaljna kontrola čitavog sustava.Ukoliko se pojavi bilo kakva sumnja na probleme u radu mo-tora van servisnih intervala važno da je što prije kontaktirate ovlašteni servisni centar kako bi se kvar na vrijeme otklonio i ne bi došlo do daljnjih oštećenja.

Redovito servisirajte svoj motor prema propisanim servi-snim intervalima isključivo kod ovlaštenih servisera, te kori-stite samo preporučena ulja, maziva i pročistače za motor.

Prednost vanbrodskih motora je ta što se razmjerno jedno-stavno mogu prenositi i skladištiti neovisno o plovilu koje su pokretali ili pokreću. Prilikom ovih operacija valja obratiti pažnju na to da se motor mora postaviti, prenositi i odlagati sukladno uputama proizvođača.

It is very important to respect and record the prescribed ser-vice intervals. The first full-service for a four-stroke outboard motor must be done after 20 hours of work. It is important that the service on engine is done by an authorized service where the overall condition of the engine will be checked. Among other things, in the authorized service the fuel filter will be checked to detect and remove any possible conta-minants, other parts of a system will be checked as well and liquids substituted.Also, the condition of zinc protectors will be checked to be sure that the engine is ready and safe for further use.

Next service should follow after 100 working hours or 12 month, now detailed control of the entire system is per-formed. If any problem occurs with the engine between service in-tervals it is important to contact an authorized service center in order to eliminate the defect on time and to avoid further damage.

Maintain your engine regularly according to prescribed maintenance intervals and only in an authorized service center; use only the recommended oils, lubricants and en-gine purifiers.

The advantage of the outboard engine is that it is relatively easy carried and stored independently of the vessel. During these operations one must pay attention to the fact that the engine needs to be set, carried and disposed of in accordan-ce with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Kada je motor pravilno ugašen skinite ga s plovila i postavi-te ga uspravno da iz njega izađe sva voda. Vanbrodski motor prenosite u uspravnom položaju ili položenom na ručicu ko-mande kako ulje ne bi iscurilo.

Ova napomena ne vrijedi za nove Yamaha F 4, 5, 6 motore koji imaju integriran sustav zaštite od istjecanja tekućina, te ih možete postaviti i transportirati u više položaja.

Ako ne namjeravate duže vrijeme koristiti motor preporuka je da ga odnesete u ovlašteni servis na konzervaciju kako bi bio uredno pripremljen za mirovanje. Tako ćete pripomoći da motor bude dugotrajno funkcionalan.

Na pločici s identifikacijskim brojevima nalaze se svi važni po-datci o motoru kao što su serijski broj, model motora, godina proizvodnje. Važno je sačuvati pločicu sa serijskim brojem motora radi budućeg održavanja. Before lifting the engine with an integrated fuel tank and dismantling it of the vessel one needs to close the shut-off valve, keep engine running until it consumes fuel and stops working. In this way fuel is discharged from the carburetor. When the engine stops working, close the air tank manifold.For the engines with an external fuel tank, it is necessary to detach the engine from the fuel tank while the outboard mo-tor in the water, than to keep the engine running to consume fuel and terminate its work. After that put a protective cover to the engine’s fuel connector.

When the engine is switched off properly, remove it from the vessel and set it upright to pour out the water. Transport the outboard engine in the upright position or resting on the handle to avoid the oil leaking.

This note does not apply to the new Yamaha F 4, 5, 6 engines which have an integrated protection system against leaking. They can be transported and placed in multiple positions.

If you do not plan to use the engine for a longer period of time it is recommended to take it to an authorized service center for the conservation and to be properly prepared for an out of commision period. This will help the engine to stay functional.

Identification numbers record

An outboard’s motor serial number, the model number, and year of built are stamped on the label attached to the port side of the clamp bracket. Record your outboard motor serial number to simplify the spare parts ordering which will facili-tate the maintenance.

The main firefighting protection rules on the vessel are:

Prenosivi uređaji za gašenje požara najpraktičnije su i najraši-renije sredstvo zaštite od požara na plovilima. Oni moraju biti smješteni na lako pristupačnim mjestima. Jedna naprava za gašenje požara mora biti dostupna i s glavnog upravljačkog mjesta plovila.

Požari većinom počinju u strojarnici uslijed konstantne treš-nja i vibracija koje mogu olabaviti spojne terminale instalacija i uzrokovati oštećenja. Požar mogu izazvati kvarovi na motor-nom ispuhu ili na vodenim pumpama, curenje goriva...

Kod plovila s unutarnjim motorima uputno je imati ugrađen stabilni, automatski sustav zaštite od požara u prostoru stro-jarnice. Ovim se sustavom može spriječiti i ugasiti požar puno prije nego što to može bilo koji član posade s prijenosnim aparatom za gašenje. Tim prije ako se na brodu nalazi malo-brojna posada ili je vlasnik sam. Automatsko upravljanje pro-tupožarnim sustavom najučinkovitiji je način gašenja, spreča-vanja širenja požara i minimaliziranja štete.

Bez obzira koji tip stabilnog sustava zaštite od požara je in-staliran na plovilu važno je da svaki vatrodojavni sustav bude sposoban stalno sakupljati informacije o stanju svih detektora za dojavu požara.

Manual fire fighting extinguishers are the most practical and the most common part of the fire fighting equipment. Their position must be easy to reach. One fire extinguisher must be controlled from the pilot position.

Fire usually occurs in the engine room due to the constant vi-brations that can loose the installation connection and cause damages. Fire can occur as a result of the engine exhaust sys-tem or water pump failures, fuel leakage...

Inboard vessels should have a fix, automatic system installed in the engine room. This system can extinguish the fire more promptly than any crew member with a manual fire extinguish-er. It is especially useful if there are few people on the board or if the skipper is alone. Automatic fire fighting system control is the most efficient solution for extinguishing the fire, prevent the spreading of fire and to reduce the consequences.

Regardless of the type installed, every fire alarm system must be able to collect information from fire detectors in every moment.

Fire alarm must be reliable in transmitting information from a detector to the central device and back, processing and spot-ting the fire, and activating the automatic fire fighting system if necessary.

Every vessel must have a list of fire fighting equipment with position, technical specifications, instructions for use, condi-tion, reachability and instructions about how the fire fighting and evacuation should be organized.

Both manual fire extinguishers and fix systems should be properly maintained and serviced in order to stay functional and to be able to protect the vessel and the crew.

The use of fire extinguishers is the last step in case of fire. The first step is to prevent the fire to occur.

Na svakom plovilu uvijek treba postojati i biti jasno istaknut popis sa točno ucrtanom pozicijom protupožarne opreme, tehničkim podacima o opremi, informacijama o načinu ko-rištenja, stanju opreme, mogućim pristupnim putovima do odgovarajuće protupožarne opreme i informacijama veza-nim uz organizaciju protupožarne zaštite i evakuacije.

Kao i vatrogasne aparate za početno gašenje požara tako i stabilne sustave za zaštitu od požara treba redovito servisirati i održavati kako bi pružiti potpunu sigurnost plovilu i posadi.

Protupožarni aparati su u pravilu zadnja linija obrane kada se požar pojavi. Prva linija obrane je znanje kako spriječiti da se takvo što uopće dogodi.

Svaka marina mora imati policu osiguranja od svih rizika koji se mogu dogoditi, uključujući požar, potrese i druge elemen-tarne nepogode.

Prvo pitanje koje sam si postavio je: da li je zakonito i korek-tno da marine koje su ujedno i carinska skladišta, uvjetuju da sva plovila moraju imaju kasko osiguranje.

Odgovor je negativan.

Prilikom predaje dokumentacije recepciji marine, marina službeno preuzima vaše plovilo na čuvanje. Marine na taj način žele izbjeći svoju vlastitu materijalnu odgovornost uslijed grešaka osoblja marine, kvarova na instalacijama ili drugih propusta. S druge strane, osiguranje plovila kaskom

Frequent questions of boaters are focused on the problems arising in connection with the boat insurance and collection of damages in cases when certain damage has been caused either by boaters themselves to third parties or by third par-ties to the boaters themselves.

Each marina should have an insurance policy against all risks that may occur, including fire, earthquake or other acts of God.

The first question I asked myself was: is it legal and fair when marinas which are at the same time also customs warehous-es require that all the boats are covered by comprehensive all-risk insurance?

je benefit za korisnika, jer u svakom slučaju, bez obzira tko je odgovoran, lakše je naplatiti štetu od svojeg osiguravajućeg društva. Ako vaš osiguravatelj i plati, temeljem kasko police, štetu za koju je odgovorna marina, on će sigurno podnije-ti regresni zahtjev prema marini i njezinom osiguravajućem društvu.

Mogući rizici u marinama su: puknuće muringa, potapanje plovila, popuštanje veza, požar, pad sa dizalice, krađa gume-njaka, provala u plovilo, krađa instrumenata i slično.

U praksi, marine odbijaju odgovornost za takve štete, te naše vlasnike usmjeravaju na njihova vlastita osiguravajuća druš-tva. Tada Vam preostaje ili da se obratite svojem osiguravate-lju ili da podnesete tužbu protiv marine i njezinog osigurava-jućeg društva

Predlažem da se uvijek tuži marina i njezin osiguravatelj, jer nismo sigurni koliko je visoka osiguravajuća svota za svaku pojedinu nezgodu. Ako je osigurana svota preniska, a nismo podignuli tužbu prema marini, ostat ćemo bez tog dijela.

U skladu sa propisima i općim uvjetima osiguranja uvijek tre-bamo:

• obavijestiti osiguravajuće društvo o štetnom događaju (odmah ili prvi slijedeći radni dan)

• zatražiti dolazak predstavnika lučke kapetanije (očevid)

• uvijek zvati policiju, ako se radi o ozljedama putnika ili krađi

• podnijeti prema marini i osiguravatelju pismeni zahtjev, na koji su oni dužni odgovoriti u slijedećih 15 dana.

Drugi rizici koji se mogu dogoditi u marinama su štete koje nanesu druga plovila našem plovilu. Tada je odgovornost na strani vlasnika/skipera.

In practice, marinas refuse to assume any responsibility for such damages and direct the owners to refer to their own insurance companies. In such a case, you can either refer to your insurance company or sue marina and its insurance company.

I suggest you to sue always a marina and its insurance com-pany because we are not sure about the insured amount in case of each individual accident. If an insured amount is too low and we have not sued the marina, we will be denied any such amount of money.

In accordance with the regulations and general terms and conditions of insurance, we must always:

• inform the insurance company about an accident and damage (immediately or on the first next business day),

• require the presence of a representative of a harbourmas-ter’s office (official examination at a location of damage),

• call the police, in case of personal injuries or thefts and burglaries, and

• make written request to the marina and insurance com-pany; they must reply to it within the next 15 days.

• Slikanje oštećenih dijelova i položaj plovila

• Razmjena podataka osiguravajućih društava

• Popis svjedoka (gosti na plovilu)

• Zvati nadležnu lučku kapetaniju ili ako je ona daleko, ovla-štenu osobu marine kao svjedoka

• Ako je moguće, zatražiti izradu zapisnika od policije, umje-sto lučke kapetanije.

Najvažnije nakon nezgode je ostati miran. Mnogi problemi nakon nezgode nastaju jer su obje strane pod velikim priti-skom, strahom i velikom vrućinom.

Naročito pripazite, da nakon što opasnost prođe, a još nije na-pravljen službeni protokol nezgode, da ne popijete koju ča-šicu alkohola radi sretnog završetka. Skiper smije imati samo 0,5 promila alkohola u krvi!

Other risks that may occur in marinas are the damages caused to your boat by other boats. In that case the responsibility lies with the owner/skipper of such other boat.

It is important to take the following steps:

• to make the photos of damaged areas and boats’ posi-tions,

• to exchange information regarding insurance compa-nies,

• to make a list of witnesses (guests that have been aboard),

• to call competent harbourmaster’s office, or if it is far away, a responsible person of the marina to be a witness, and

• if possible, to request that the police makes a record in-stead of a competent harbourmaster’s office.

The most important thing following the accident is to stay calm. A lot of problems tend to arise following the accident because the parties are under considerable pressure, they are frightened, and usually it is very hot.

Be especially careful, once the immediate danger goes away but no official protocol of the accident has been completed, not to take a few drinks if only for the sake of a happy end-ing. The law sets a maximum blood alcohol content of 0.5 promille for skippers!

Nezaboravna avantura otkrivanja skrivenih ljepota ovoga gra-da nastavila se u šetnji Temzom, njenim mostovima i obilasku ne tako razvikanih znamenitosti, uz naravno nezaobilazan popodnevni „Tea party“ - druženje uz čaj u engleskom stilu.

To discover culinary sights team headed to Soho, experi-enced new, oriental flavours at Covent Garden and enjoyed at M & M’s world of chocolate delights.

After relaxing walk with the curious squirrels throughout magnificent St. James Park, cheerful troupe enjoyed the cer-emony of changing the royal guard known for their colorful uniforms in front of the Buckingham Palace.

Unforgettable adventure of discovering the beauties of this city continued down the Thames River and its bridges. The sightseeing of not so wide-known landmarks was fulfilled with afternoon English tea party.

The goal of this team building meeting was to having fun, emphasize existing and discover new potentials of our team, and to further enhance the spirit of community.

Kornati su najgušća otočna skupina na Jadranu i jedna od najbrojnijih na Mediteranu. Zbog izuzetnih krajobraznih ljepota, zanimljive geomorfologije, velike razvedenosti obalne crte i naročito bogatih biocenoza morskog ekosu-stava, veći dio grupe otoka Kornati proglašen je Nacional-nim parkom i 1�80 g. stavljen pod zaštitu.

Kornatski arhipelag, kao posebna i zasebna otočna skupina smještena između šibenskih i zadarskih otoka, rasprostire se na površini od oko 320 km2 i uključuje oko 150 kopnenih, stalno ili povremeno nadmorskih jedinica. Ovaj najrazvedeniji otočni ekosustav u Jadranskom moru, koji uključuje čak 12% svih otoka hrvatskog Jadrana (1264 otoka, od čega je 67 na-pučenih), a tek 1% ukupne hrvatske morske površine, odavno plijeni pozornost brojnih nautičara, ronilaca, planinara i dru-gih zaljubljenika u prirodu i ono što priroda nudi.

NP „Kornati” obiluje posebnostima i ljepotama, kako po svojoj prirodnoj, tako i po svojoj kulturnoj baštini i tradiciji.

Okomite litice „Krune“ najpopularniji su prirodni fenomen parka i upravo su one dale naziv ovome otočju. Ime potječe iz latinskog jezika , riječi „corona“ što znači „kruna“ a pogled na hridi stvara dojam kao da su u ovom arhipelagu otoci okru-njeni ili „incoronati“, te od tud današnji naziv Kornati.

Najduža „kruna” iznad razine mora nalazi se na otoku Mana (1350 m), a najviša na otoku Klobučar (82 m). „Krune” se prote-žu i pod morem. Najdublja „kruna” se nalazi na otoku Piskera (preko 90 m).

Kornati are the densest Adriatic archipelago and one of the largest in the Mediterranean. Thanks to their beauty, interesting geomorphology, indented coastline and rich marine life, the major part of the Kornati islands become national park in 1�80.

The Kornati archipelago is a special group of islands located between Šibenik and Zadar that extends over an area of ap-proximately 320 km2 and includes about 150 land units, lo-cated either permanently or frequently above the sea level. The archipelago makes 12% of all the islands in the Croatian Adriatic - 1264 islands, 67 of them inhabited.

Boaters, divers, hikers and other nature lovers are attracted by its natural beauties.

NP “Kornati” is characterized by its unique beauty combining natural distinctiveness with cultural heritage and tradition.

Vertical cliffs known as “Crowns” of Kornati islands are natu-ral phenomenon of the park. The name of the archipelago comes from the Latin word „corona“ which means “crown”. The view on the cliffs creates the impression that the archi-pelago of islands is crowned or lat. “incoronati” . This is the origin of today’s name – Kornati.

The longest “crown” situated above the sea level is located on the island of Mana (1350 m), the highest is on the island Hat-ter (82 m). The crowns stretch even under the sea. The deep-est crown is located on the island Piškera (over 90 m).

Veliku pažnju posjetitelja parka privlače vidikovci: Metlina, Otocevac, Opat, Vrujsko, Litnji vrh, Ravni Zakan sa kojih se pružaju jedinstveni vidici, te Magazinova skrila na otoku Kor-natu - posebna vrsta klizišta.

Suhozidne ograde danas su jedne od najzanimljivijih kultur-nih atrakcija u području parka. Zbog izduženosti velikih otoka suhozidi su građeni od morske obale s jedne strane otoka na drugu. Visoki su toliko da ih ovca ne može preskočiti ni prijeći na tuđi pašnjak, a široki toliko da se ne sruše pod snagom olujnih vjetrova.

Podmorje NP „Kornati” pruža mogućnost promatranja doista bogatog biljnog i životinjskog svijeta. Kvalificirani autonomni ronioci mogu uživati u onim vrijednostima zbog kojih je, iz-među ostalog, područje i proglašeno nacionalnim parkom.Oni drugi pak, koji nemaju ronilačku kvalifikaciju, mogu uz pomoć maske i disalice zaviriti u modre dubine čistog i pro-zračnog kornatskog mora, jer se i s površine može vidjeti puno toga nezaboravnoga.

Područje Nacionalnog parka Kornati može se okarakterizirati kao područje bogato iznimno važnim zajednicama podmorja koje su, zbog dugogodišnje zaštite, na visokom stupnju oču-vanosti. Do danas je na području NP Kornati zabilježeno 353 vrste algi i 3 vrste morskih cvjetnica te oko 850 vrsta životinja među kojima 61 vrsta koralja, 177 vrsta mekušaca, 127 vrsta mnogočetinaša, 61 vrsta desetonožnih rakova, 64 vrste bod-ljikaša i 185 vrsta riba.

Great attractions of the park are vantage points: Metlina, Otocevac, Opat, Vrujsko, Litnji vrh, Ravni Zakan which offers unique views, as well as Magazinova skrila on the island of Kornati, a special type of landslides.

Dry stone fences are among of the main cultural attractions in the park those days. Due to the elongation of major islands dry stone walls were built from the sea on one side of the is-land to the another. They are so high that sheep cannot jump over it and enough wide not to collapse under the force of winds.

The undersea of the Kornati National Park offers countless opportunities to watch the rich plant and animal life. Quali-fied autonomous divers are in a privileged position: they can enjoy in all the things that are the reason why this place is a national park.

We recommend to everyone, without diving qualifications, to take a diving mask and snorkel. They can take a peek into the blue deeps of the clear Kornati waters. You can see a lot of memorable things, even from the surface.

Kornati National Park is inhabited by 353 species of algae, 3 species of underwater flower plants as well as about 850 animal species – 61 species of corals, 177 species of molluscs, 127 species of bristle worms, 61 species of decapod crabs, 64 species of echinoderms and 185 species of fish.

Kopneni dio parka, iako se često doima kao „polupustinja”, ta-kođer vrvi životom. Najraširenija vegetacija je ona kamenjar-skih pašnjaka, posebno na otoku Kornatu. Lokve, kao prirodni ili poluprirodni mali slatkovodni ekosustavi izuzetnog su bio-loškog bogatstva. Za otočne lokve i močvarnu vegetaciju koja ih okružuje vezan je značajan broj danas već rijetkih i drugdje u Europi ugroženih vrsta kukaca, vodozemaca, gmazova, i sl.

U posljednjih desetak godina veliku pozornost biologa privla-če i speleološki objekti kopnenog (otočnog) djela Nacional-nog parka Kornati. Spilje i jame kao jedan od tipičnih fenome-na krša, značajne su za biološku raznolikost ovog područja.

Kako doći u Kornate?U područje Parka može se doći vlastitim, iznajmljenim plo-vilom ili u organizaciji jednog od mnogobrojnih brodara, turističkih agencija diljem Jadrana koji organiziraju izlete u područje Parka. NP„Kornati” se nalazi na udaljenosti oko sedam morskih milja od Murtera, odnosno oko petnaest morskih milja od Šibenika i od Zadra.

U Kornate je najbolje doći iz pravca Murtera, Zadra, Biograda, Vodica i Šibenika.

NP „Kornati” ima dva službena ulaza, a to su sa sjeverne strane prolaz Velika Proversa, a sa južne Vrata od Opata.

The lend part of the Park, although seemingly a semi-desert, is also full of life. The most widespread vegetation on islands is rocky pastures, especially on the island of Kornati.

Ponds, as natural or semi-natural small freshwater eco-sys-tems have great biological wealth. A significant number of now rare and endangered species insects, amphibians, rep-tiles are tied to island ponds and the marsh vegetation that surrounds them.

During the last ten years, the speleological object on the land part of the Kornati National Park attracts the attention of biol-ogists. Caves and holes, as some of typical karst phenomena are important for the biodiversity of this area.

How to reach the Kornati National Park?You can reach the Kornati National Park by your own boat, a rent-ed one, or participating in organized tours provided by numer-ous individuals and tourist agencies along the Adriatic coast.

NP “Kornati” is situated at a distance of about seven nauti-cal miles from Murter, or about fifteen nautical miles from Šibenik and Zadar.

The best way to reach Kornati is from direction of Murter, Za-dar, Šibenik and Vodice.

National park has two official entrances; one on the north side called Velika Proversa, and on south side called Vrata od Opata.

OKUSI MEDITERANA / FLAVOURS OF THE MEDITERRANEAN

Lavanda je biljka „čarobnih” svojstava s tisućama blagotvor-nih učinaka na ljude i ljudsko zdravlje. Iako potječe sa grč-kih otoka može ju se pronaći duž čitavog Mediterana. Ova višegodišnja grmovita biljka može narasti od 50 do 85 cm visine, a cvate do lipnja do srpnja. Cvjetovi su nježno plavo - ljubičaste boje, pršljenasto raspoređeni u dugim vlasastim cvatovima. Kao blago mirisni trajni grm, lavanda ne bi trebala nedostajati ni u jednom vrtu. Iako skromnih zahtjeva, bogato i dugo cvate uz prekrasni miris, te vrtu daje posebnu živost jer privlači mnogobrojne leptire, bumbare i pčele.

Kroz povijest lavanda se upotrebljavala u razne svrhe: od kulinarstva, do medicine, higijene tijela i rublja. Smatra-na ujedno cvijetom nevinosti, čednosti, ali i biljkom jakih afrodizijačkih svojstva.

Božanstvena LAVANDA

Divine LAVENDER Lavender is a plant with “magical” attributes and thousands of beneficial effects on human health. Although its origins from the Greek islands it can be found along the Mediterranean coast. This perennial bushy plant can reach 50-85 cm. It blooms through June and July. The flowers are soft blue - purple colour, arranged in whorls long inflorescences. As a gently fragrant longlasting bush, lavender should find place in every garden. Although modest in demands it has a rich and long bloom with beautiful smell. Lavender gives a special sparkle to a garden and attracts butterflies, bumblebees and honeybees.

Throughout history lavender has been used for various pur-poses: from culinary, to medicine, and hygiene of body and laundry. It has been considered both the flower of innocence, chastity, and plant of a strong aphrodisiac properties.

Egipatski faraoni obožavali su njen miris, stari Grci koristili su je za liječenje, dok su Rimljani upotrebljavali lavandino eterič-no ulje u kupkama jer ono stimulira regeneraciju kože.

Današnji naziv lavanda potječe iz latinskog jezika od riječi „lavare” što znači „prati”. Zbog ugodnog mirisa i ljekovitosti lavanda i danas ima široku primjenu. Čaj od cvjetova lavan-de tradicionalan je lijek za umirenje i ublažavanje nesanice te protiv glavobolje. Osušeni cvjetovi omiljeni su za punjenje jastuka za opuštanje i bolji san. Koristi se kao dodatak pri izra-di domaćih kozmetičkih pripravka, losiona, kupki i sl. Zbog slatkastog mirisa sve je popularnija i u kulinarstvu pri priprav-ljanju deserata poput sladoleda sa lavandom, krema, kolačića i sorbeta.

Egyptian pharaohs worshiped its fragrance, ancient Greeks used it in treatments, while the Romans used lavender essen-tial oil in the baths to stimulate skin regeneration.

Lavender’s name derives from the Latin word “lavare” meaning “to wash”. Thanks to the pleasant fragrance and healing proper-ties lavender is widely used even today. Tea made from laven-der flowers is a traditional tranquiliser as well as cure for insom-nia and headache. Pillows filled with dried lavender flowers are well known method of providing relaxation and better sleep.

Lavender is used as an additive in the preparation of organ-ic cosmetic products such as lotions and baths. In culinary, thanks to its sweet smell it is popular for the preparation of desserts like ice creams, cookies and sorbets.

Limunada s lavandom

Lavender lemonade

Ingredients:• 1 l water• 1 tablespoon of dried lavender flowers• 1 cup lemon juice• 2 tablespoon of sugar or honey• Ice cubes

RECEPT / RECIPE

Preparation:In a large saucepan bring water to a boil. Remove from the heat; add lavender. Cover and let stand to cool down. Strain, discarding lavender. Stir in lemon juice and sweeten it. If you prefer a stronger taste of lavender, you can leave a few laven-der flowers in lemonade. Serve it with ice.

Enjoy the taste!

Priprema:1 l vode zagrijte do vrenja, kada zakuha skinuti s vatre i dodaj-te cvjetove lavande, pokrijte i pustite da se ohladi, te potom procijedite.Ohlađenu smjesu pomiješajte s iscijeđenim sokom limuna te zasladite po želji. Ukoliko volite jači okus lavande možete osta-viti par cvjetova lavande u limunadi.Poslužite sa nekoliko kockica leda.

Sigurnosna oprema malih plovilaMalena plovila za razonodu do � m dužine s kabinom, cen-tralnom konzolom ili otvorenim pramcem izrazito su po-pularna, pogotovo za vrijeme ljetnih mjeseci kada se mno-gi njima upuštaju u morske avanture duž Jadrana.

Kako bi plovidbu njima učinili što ugodnijom i sigurnijom do-nosimo kratki pregled neke od najosnovnije sigurnosne opre-me koju vlasnici ovih plovila trebaju imati:

•VeslailipomoćnimotorZa slučaj da glavni pogonski sustav zakaže nužno je na plovilu imati alternativni sustav, bilo da je riječ o veslima ili malom pomoćnom motoru snage 5 – 10 ks.

•SuhakutijaUkoliko na plovilu ne postoji ugrađeno suho spremište uputno je imati plastične brodske kutije sa zabrtvljenim vo-dootpornim poklopcem u koje se mogu spremiti stvari koje moraju biti na suhom kao što su primjerice prijenosni radio, mobiteli, baterije, GPS.

Small leisure crafts up to � m in length with a cabin, center console or open bow are highly popular, especially during the summer months when many of them engage in sea adventures along the Adriatic coast.

In order to make the navigation even more pleasant and safe we present you a brief overview of the basic safety equip-ment that the owners of small crafts must have on board:

• Paddles or small outboard engineIn the case the main propulsion system fails, it is necessary to have an alternative system on board. It can be a set of paddles or a small additional engine from 5 to10 hp in power.

• Dry BoxIf the boat does not have a built-in dry storage it is advis-able to have a plastic waterproof box to store the things that should be kept dry like portable radios, cell phones, batteries, GPS.

•SidroisidrenoužeSidro je važan dio opreme plovila. Kod sidrenja treba voditi računa da se osigura sigurnost brodice jer promjene vjetra i mora mogu djelovati na snagu usidrenja. Uputno je imati najmanje 2.5 metra lanca pričvršćenog između sidra i konopa jer se time znatno povećava snaga usidrenja.

•PrslukzaspašavanjePotrebo je imati dovoljan broj prsluka za spašavanje prema broju osoba koje se nalaze na plovilu za vrijeme plovidbe. Na tržištu se mogu pronaći modeli koje se udobno mogu nositi cijeli dan. Gliseri koji vuku skijaša ili gumeni zračni jastuk moraju uz pr-sluke imati i sigurnosnu narukvicu za isključivanje motora i konveksni retrovizor.NAPOMENA: sva djeca mlađa od 10 godina moraju nositi pr-sluk za spašavanje dok su na rekreacijskoj brodici.

•RučnacrpkaMala plovila uglavnom su opremljena sa po jednom kaljuž-nom pumpom. Problem može nastati kada se pumpa po-kvari. U tom slučaju posjedovanje dodatne ručne pumpe na plovilu predstavlja osiguranje za takve probleme.

•ZračnatrubaBrodice moraju imati uređaj za proizvodnju zvuka za signali-ziranje opasnosti koja je sposobna „trubiti“ četiri sekunde na čujnoj udaljenosti od oko 500 metara. Iako plastična zviždalj-ka i instalirana električna truba mogu zadovoljiti takav zahtjev bolji izbor je ručna truba na sprej boci koja se može čuti na puno većoj udaljenosti.

•PriručnialatPodvodni sprud ili neki veći predmet mogu oštetiti propeler i onesposobiti plovilo za daljnju plovidbu, stoga je dobro na plovilu imati priručni alat za popravak u nuždi.

• Anchor and anchor chainAnchor is an important part of the equipment on every vessel. It should ensure the safety of the boat. The changes in wind and sea current may affect the strength of the anchorages. It is advisable to have at least 2.5 meters of chain attached between the anchor and the rope. It can significantly increase the strength of the anchorages.

• Life jacket It is necessary to have sufficient number of life jackets for all people on board during the cruise. On the market you can find models that can be comfortably worn all day long. Boats which pull skiers or inflatable air cushions must have a security bracelet to turn off the engine and a convex mirror.NOTE: children under 10 years old must wear a life jacket while staying on a recreational boat.

• Manual bilge pumpSmall boats are generally equipped with one bilge pump. The problem can occur when the pump breaks down. In this case, having extra manual pumps on the vessel represents solution for such problems.

• Air hornSmall craft must have a device to signal the danger that is capable of producing “toot” sound for four seconds and can be heard from the distance of about 500 meters. Although plastic whistle and installed electric horn can meet such demands, better option is to have a manual horn spray bottle that can be heard at longer distance.

• Toolbox The underwater sandbar or a larger object can damage the propeller and disable the vessel for further navigation. It is good to have a handy tool on board for emergency repair.

U potpunosti pročitajte priručnik za prvu pomoć kako biste razumjeli na koji način koristiti sadržaj vaše kutije. Pohranite kutije za prvu pomoć na suho, zatvoreno mjesto na plovilu. Uvjerite se da je to mjesto djeci nedostupno, ali da ga odrasli u slučaju po-trebe mogu vrlo jednostavno doseći. Redovito provjeravajte sadržaj kutije i zamijenite stvari ili lijekove koji nedostaju ili im je istekao rok trajanja.

• Upoznajte lokalne čimbenike koji utječu na morske uvjete i doznajte gdje možete pronaći najbliži zaklon.• Naučite čitati meteorološke karte.• Uvijek provjerite najnoviju vremensku prognozu i upozorenja prije nego izlazite na more.• Čuvajte se oblaka koji naglo tamne i spuštaju se - naleti vjetra mogu početi svakog časa.• Kad ste na moru slušajte vremenska izvješća na javnom i brodskom radiju.

• First aid kit First-aid kit with the appropriate medical content is a part of prescribed safety equipment for every boat. Read the first aid manual in order to understand how to use the contents of your box. Store first-aid kit on a dry, closed place on the vessel. Make sure that a place is inaccessible to children, but easily reachable for the adults in case of need. Regularly check the contents of the box and replace things or drugs that are missing or have expired.

• Before navigation it is desirable to check the safety equipment on board:

• Review all the safety equipment to make sure it is not in bad ondition or damaged. • Refresh your knowledge how to use the safety equipment. • Review the anchor, rings, chains and ropes to make sure they are not worn out. Replace if necessary. • Check if the bilge pump is working properly.

Safety tips

• Get acquainted with the local factors that affect sea conditions and find out where you can find the nearest shelter. • Learn how to read weather maps. • Always check the latest weather forecasts and warnings before navigation • Beware the clouds that suddenly darken and descend - flurries may start any moment. • When you are at sea, listen to weather reports on the radio.
