The MarketWith 32.5 million hectares of arable land Ukraine provides the second largest arable area in Europe. The high percentage of black soil has an enormous po-tential leading to ever growing crop yields for grain and oil seeds being exported to a large amount. Ukraine is the the worlds No. 1 exporter of oil seeds, ranks third for corn exports and sixth for grain exports. Low wages and leases as well as the proximity to the sales markets in Eastern Europe, Near East and Central Asia offer a locational advantage for the agricultural production. However, owing to outdated equipment on many farms, Ukraine cannot live upt to its potential. Small and medium sized farms are in need of some 25,000 modern harvesting machines (most machinery is 10 years or older). Also, insufficiencies in refrige-ration, storage, port logistics and transport infrastructure hamper bigger export rates. As their own machinery production is not competitive Ukrainian manufacturers depend on efficient machines and technology solutions from international sup-pliers. 75% of the market are covered by imports, for self propelled machinery it is even 100%.
The ExhibitionInterAGRO is the biannual meeting point of agriculture in Ukraine for leading investors and farmers. In 2016, 18,000 visitors came to the fair to meet 350 exhibitors, among them 50 international companies from 20 countries. Traditio-nally, they meet on renowned manufacturers of agricultural machinery showing their latest state-of-the-art technology of the leading national and international manufacturers with the focus on going easy on resources. This year InterAGRO will focus on issues of increasing economic efficiency of agribusiness by means of introducing innovative agrarian technologies, deep processing of agricultural products and improvement of agribusiness infrastructure as well.
