Interdyscyplinarna Szkoła Doktorska

The Interdisciplinary Doctoral School (IDS) is a general unit of SWPS University established by the Rector in order to coordinate teaching programs and other activities undertaken at the third-level of education. The aim of IDS is to ensure coherence of the programs, to facilitate dialogue between the programs, to support the development of early-stage researchers and to coordinate other activities conducted at the doctoral level of education at SWPS University.

Three Paths to Doctoral Degree at the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School:1. Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program

The Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program (IDP) is the core program of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School. The main language of instruction at the IDP is Polish (70%) with some courses offered in English (30%). 2. ICT & PsychologyICT & Psychology program is a new, entirely interdisciplinary doctoral program funded by the European Social Fund (via the National Center for Research and Development) that combines Information and Communication Technologies with Psychology. It is a joint program, implemented by the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJAIT) in close cooperation with SWPS University. The program is delivered entirely in English. 3. Extramural DoctoratesExtramural doctorates and the legitimization of extramural doctorates (i.e. a formal upgrade procedure) are conducted under the auspices of SWPS University’s Faculties. Candidates must find a thesis advisor and manage the process themselvs. However doctoral students, who choose the extramural doctorate path, can enroll in paid courses (both general and dedicated) offered by the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School, such as: doctoral seminars, courses in methodology and statistics and other courses available through the in-house programs. Language of instruction subject to agreement with the supervisor and to the choice of courses.

The Interdisciplinary Doctoral School is awaiting the formal approval to offer other forms of doctoral studies, including:

• Industrial European Doctorates to be provided in cooperation with public and private organizations• International doctorates – joint degrees in cooperation with universities around the world.

Additionally, the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School oversees the following activities related to the third-level education at SWPS University:

• Membership and participation in various international bodies and organizations, such as: » Vitae – a UK based non-profit organization supporting the professional development of researchers » EUA Council for Doctoral Education – the European network of 230 universities from 30 countries that award doctoral

degrees• Assistance with grant applications that support the development of interdisciplinary and international doctorates• Coordination of additional modules in English provided in cooperation with universities and research centers around the world• Provision of tailor-made courses

Interdyscyplinarna Szkoła Doktorska Uniwersytetu SWPS została powołana przez Rektora jako ogólnouczelniana jednostka organizacyjna, pełniąca funkcje dydaktyczne, koordynacyjne i usługowe. Jej celem jest zapewnienie spójności działań związanych z organizacją kształcenia na studiach III stopnia oferowanych przez Uniwersytet SWPS oraz wspieranie rozwoju naukowców na wczesnym etapie kariery.

Proponujemy trzy ścieżki do uzyskania stopnia naukowego doktora w Interdyscyplinarnej Szkole Doktorskiej Uniwersytetu SWPS:

1. Interdyscyplinarne Studia Doktoranckie Jest to główny program oferowany w ramach Szkoły Doktorskiej, który skupia się na badaniach podstawowych i obejmuje następujące dyscypliny naukowe:• WARSZAWA: kulturoznawstwo, literaturoznawstwo, psychologia, socjologia• WROCŁAW: psychologiaWiększość kursów prowadzonych jest w języku polskim (70%), natomiast pozostałe oferowane są w języku angielskim (30%).

2. ICT & PsychologyInformation and Communication Technology and Psychology (Informatyka i Psychologia) to międzyuczelniany interdyscyplinarny program studiów doktoranckich organizowany przez Polsko-Japońską Akademię Technik Komputerowych we współpracy ze Szkołą Doktorską Uniwersytetu SWPS. 3. Doktoraty z wolnej stopyDoktoraty z wolnej stopy realizowane są pod kierownictwem wydziałów, tzn. sformalizowanie procedury – podpisanie umowy – jest wyłączną kompetencją Rad Wydziałów. Kandydaci muszą znaleźć opiekuna naukowego i zarządzać całym procesem samodzielnie. Studenci, którzy wybiorą tę ścieżkę, mogą zapisywać się na płatne kursy (o charakterze ogólnym oraz dedykowanym), oferowane w ramach Interdyscyplinarnej Szkoły Doktorskiej, np. seminaria doktoranckie, kursy z metodologii i statystyki oraz inne kursy dostępne w ofercie programu Interdyscyplinarnych Studiów Doktoranckich.

Interdyscyplinarna Szkoła Doktorska podjęła działania mające na celu poszerzenie oferty o dwie dodatkowe ścieżki, które umożliwią uzyskanie stopnia doktora na Uniwersytecie SWPS:

• doktoraty wdrożeniowe we współpracy z publicznymi i prywatnymi organizacjami (European Industrial Doctorate)• doktoraty międzynarodowe – wspólne przewody doktorskie we współpracy z zagranicznymi uczelniami.
