northeaster South Africa, and extends 360 kilometres (220 mi) from north to south and 65
kilometres (40 mi) from east to west.
Where nearly 2 million hectares of unrivalled diversity of life forms fuses with historical and
archaeological sites - this is real Africa. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a
wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa.
It is big 5 country, and species you might be able to see is the elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard
and black rhino. Other interesting species you might find would be hippo, crocodile, cheetah,
sable, wild dogs, the famous ground hornbill, the bird in the movie of The Lion King. Baobab
and Marula tree among many other species of wild life and nature…

water holes, and make the best we could… midday we can either have a meal at one of the
parks restaurants, or have a barbeque in the bush at a selected place.

the quality of accommodation required. If you request an overnight in Kruger Park, please let
us know before as to get the cost for you accommodation as requested. On overnight quotes in
the park, let us prepare a full quotation for you.
Amarula Lapa.
Visit the home of Amarula Cream. If you had been to Africa before you might have drink
some Amarula Cream, and might be very familiar with it. However, your hunting area is close
to the home of Amarula Cream… well worth to visit, and also getting some artefacts and
souvenirs from this shop… once you drink the fruit juices of Africa, juices from the
elephant… you will come back time and time again for more.
Amarula is a cream liqueur from South Africa. It is made with sugar, cream and the fruit of
the African marula tree (Sclerocarya birrea) which is also locally called the Elephant tree or
the Marriage Tree. It has an alcohol content of 17% by volume
THE MARULA FRUIT
There is just one place on earth where the Marula trees grow – across Africa’s subequatorial
plains. And there is just one time of year when the female Marula trees bear their exotic fruit –
at the height of our beautiful summer. The size of small plums but oval in shape, the Marula
fruit ripens to a rich yellow, with a tough outer skin surrounding its fibrous, white flesh.
Containing four times more vitamin C than the average orange, Marula is a succulent fruit
with a citrus tang and a creamy, nutty taste.
Elephants enjoy eating the fruit of the marula tree. Because of the marula tree's association
with elephants, the distiller has made them its symbol and supports elephant conservation
efforts, co-funding the Amarula Elephant Research Programme at the University of Natal,
Durban.] For marketing efforts it produces elephant-themed collectible items.
Entrance is for free, light lunches are available, and most are connected with the fruit, or the
cream. Items to buy are cheap and related to the South African Rand… here you pay for what
you buy… you can just look and take pictures…
This trip can be combined with a half day in Kruger National Park, or with other activities…
Pontoon Boat cruise:
Take a boat cruise down the Elephants River on a pontoon boat… for either fishing or just
taking photos. A half day or a full day is possible. On a cruise like this you can either have the
boat privately or book in a group.
On a typical cruise it is possible to see elephants/hippo/crocodile and many other species…it
is big 5 country and any specie could be viewed from boat coming to drink water, or just
relaxing in the sun.
In these waters one can find the Tiger Fish, it is a predator, and good techniques to fish them
is either trolling slowly with a lure or putting down the anchor and use meat as bait. A lot of
good photos can be taken from boat side…
Artefacts in the Mountians:
These we drive up to the mountains, the artefacts are next to the road, and here one can find
these items at a very reasonable price. Note that there are no Credit Card facilities… so make
sure you have exchange enough South African Rand for your needs…
There are many shops along the road, and we normally drive from one shop to the next. These
items are hand crafted, and the people selling these items normally would be the talented
people who crafted these by hand.
This can be combined with other activities; these are for each client’s own account…

Some of the animals you may stumble across are the lion, cheetah, serval, honey badger, eagles, hyena, leopard, vultures, many baby animals and much more. Moholoholo started out small with one or two baby and injured animals and word spread about the excellent work done caring for and releasing these animals back into the wild. Some animals that have been rescued cannot be returned to the wild due to their circumstances and have permanent residency at the centre. The staff at the centre is incredibly enthusiastic about creating awareness and helping preserve our wildlife. Some animals are bred at the centre and then released. A nominal fee is charged for guided tours which are about 2 hours long.
Fishing: We have various options for fishing. One can fish in one of the rivers, like the elephants river… while wildlife can come drink water. One takes a boat for fishing on either some of the rivers or a lake… there are various waters with different fish species. It all depends on what the requirement would be… We have tiger fish and to successfully fish, they require more technique and platform to start with. Boats might push cost up a little. Fish that we commonly have in the waters in the area are… Forty-nine fish species are found in Kruger's rivers, including two of the rarest species in the world - the lungfish and the mosquito-eating killifish.
Barbel
Yellowfish
Tigerfish
Mozambique Tilapia
Sharptooth Catfish
Grass – Carp.
Deep sea fishing Fees are charged for the boat and not per person. All provided like reels/bait. Food been provided on the boat. All accommodation, three meals per day. It is recommended that for this trip we had to sleep at the coastal town of either St Lucia or Richards’s bay in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province. It is far from the hunting area and a 700 kilometre drive is needed. In this case hunters can fly in to Phalaborwa airport on arrival. We drive to the coastal town… do some deep sea fishing as required, and then drive towards OR Tambo Johannesburg for your departure.
Summer Fishing Species include Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Wahoo, Cuda (King
Mackerel) and Tuna.
Winter Deep Sea Fishing Species include Queen Mackerel, Tuna and Cuda
(occasionally).
Deep Sea Fishing St Lucia Techniques:
Live bait fishing is in particular very popular of the St Lucia coast, smaller bait fish are used
for the likes of Cuta, Snoek (Queen Mackerel). While larger live baits such as bonito is used
for Marlin and Sailfish.
Trolling with lures offers good results for Dorado, Sailfish and Marlin.
Trolling with bait strips is particularly good for catching Queen Mackerel in the winter
months.
Flick Sticking is incredibly fun especially when the Queen Mackerel are biting as light fishing
tackle is used.
Big Game Fishing (marlin & sailfish) larger lures are used if no live bait is available. Trolling
with lures for big game fish also offers us to fish in larger areas.
Activities for the non-hunter:
Health – beauty and hair spa:
- Coffee Shops: - Curio shops: - Shopping centres… maybe not what you are used to. - Accompany (staff member or owners) to the town for fresh food/fruit… visit some
