Information and Directions

Located just on the outskirts of Derby City Centre and standing within the most important

commercial and professional sector of the city, known as Friar Gate, Vernon Gate is easy to reach

from all destinations and major routes.

Vernon Gate and the prestigious Vernon Street leading up to the Grade II Listed Facade are

conveniently situated on main bus routes, just a short walk to the city centre and provides easy

access to numerous key routes including the A38, A52, A50, and is a mere 6 miles to the M1,

Junction 25.

From the East (Nottingham) Take the A52 to Derby. Stay on the A52 Derby ring road and follow the signs

for A38 and Ashbourne (A52). Turn right at the Friar Gate Traffic Lights and go under the old Friar Gate

Bridge (ornate Victorian iron Railway Bridge on Friar Gate). Keep in the left hand lane up to the traffic

lights. Turn left after the lights into Vernon Street (just after The Greyhound Pub). At the end (T junction)

turn left and take the first right into Vernon Gate; Gleneagles House is on your left with car park at rear.

From the South (Birmingham/Burton) Take the A38 towards Derby to the ‘Markeaton Roundabout’ (Esso

Garage and MacDonald’s on left). Turn right at this roundabout onto the A52 towards Derby City Centre.

After approx. ¾ mile turn right onto Vernon Street. At the end (T junction) turn left and take the first right

into Vernon Gate; Gleneagles House is on your left with car park at rear.

From the South (London/M1) Exit M1 at J25 onto A52 Derby then follow directions as above (From the

East).

From the North (Leeds/M1) Exit M1 at J28 onto A38. Continue on A38 to ‘Markeaton Roundabout’ (Esso

Garage and MacDonald’s on right), turn left onto A52 towards Derby City centre and follow directions as

above (From the South Birmingham/Burton).

From the West (Ashbourne/Leek) Take the A52 from Ashbourne towards Derby to ‘Markeaton

Roundabout’ (Esso Garage and MacDonald’s on right). Go straight on at the roundabout staying on the A52

Derby City Centre. Follow directions as above (From the South Birmingham/Burton).

From Loughborough along the A6 to the Derby inner ring road (A52 to Ashbourne) Take the A6 to Derby

which brings you along London Road. Stay on London Road and at the top is a roundabout (London Road

Community Hospital on your left with the statue of Florence Nightingale just before the roundabout). Turn

right onto a dual carriageway which leads down to a large roundabout with a multi-storey car park in the

middle. Go straight on at the roundabout with the bus station on your left, following the signs for the A38

and Ashbourne (A52). You will go over The River Derwent, skirting the edge of the city centre. Turn right at

the Friar Gate Traffic Lights and follow directions as above (From the East).

If you are standing directly in front of the big stone gate (Do not go through the gate), Gleneagles House is

the building on the left of the gate.
