The story of formiTalia’s success began with brothers

David and Gianni overi; their vision was to create an

entirely hand-crafted home concept formed of elegant,

striking pieces made entirely in italy. Their collections of

furniture for the home and office, under their own brand

and that of their partner Tonino lamborghini, can today

be seen in the most prestigious villas, hotels and luxury

boutiques in more than 50 countries worldwide, and

now through their own network of mono-branded stores.

They have also created a luxurious and exclusive range of

personal accessories which can often be found alongside

their furniture.

The formiTalia Group was founded by Graziano overi

in 1968 and created the first design collection under

the formiTalia name in 1991, known as the Boutique

collection. intricate prints in pure silk from como and

fine detailing in metals and leather were created by

highly skilled florentine craftsmen, the exquisite quality

of the pieces achieved by drawing on their depth of

knowledge and also the luxurious raw materials employed

in production which include crocodile and ostrich

leathers. Such materials have since become central to the

formiTalia image.

all formiTalia’s products are hand-crafted in the Tuscan

region, in firenze, prato, pistoia and pisa. The originality

and character of the brand remains evident through the

distinctive shapes of their designs, the outstanding quality

of materials and enduring love of leather. from luxurious

and spacious living rooms to sleek and sophisticated

bedrooms, formiTalia continues to create stylish pieces

for a unique and beautiful home-setting.

in 2002 formiTalia acquired the mirabili arte

d’abitare brand, created by Sergio cammilli in 1980,

which continues to grow in popularity. The collection

includes limited edition works of art, created by 38

internationally-recognised artists including Barni,

cammilli, ceroli, corneli, crema, De poli, fallani,

Grittini, lodola, mendini, natalini, ontani, portoghesi,

purini, ruggiero, Santachiara, Sottsass, Talani, Tolomeo,

Urano-palma and Villani.

in 2005, Tonino lamborghini formed a partnership with

formiTalia to create a range of furniture as part of

their lifestyle collection. Vibrant colours and the highest

quality leathers define the collection, inspired by some

of the world’s most seductive supercars. The most recent

venture with Tonino lamborghini has been a range of

innovative designer kitchens, every aspect of which is

fully lined with leather, including household appliances.

a limited edition collection is also available, which

utilises carbon and Kevlar elements.

in 2008 miami SWinG merged with formiTalia,

and renzo arbore, alida cappellini and Giovanni

licheri joined the group; the miami Swing

collection was a result of renzo arbore’s passion

for vintage products from the 1950s and 1960s.

His theme was further developed by designers

alida cappellini and Giovanni licheri who used

dynamic colours, smooth edges and visionary

prints to create an exciting and eye-catching

collection.

in 2011 formiTalia unveiled a new interiors

collection in collaboration with prestigious

British sports car manufacturer aston martin.

complete with accessories and lighting, the

aston martin interiors collection is designed to

create a distinctive and exclusive offering for a

consumer who appreciates exceptional design

and original pieces. Designed in conjunction with

aston martin, and made in italy, the collection

creates synthesis between advanced, industrial

technologies used in aston martin cars such

as carbon fibre, magnesium and aluminium,

alongside materials such as leather, wool and

cashmere; a perfect fusion of performance, design

and comfort.

in april 2011 formiTalia showcased the new aston martin interiors collection at DUomo, unveiling the capsule range from their brand new furniture collection, which immediately ignited interest from designers and car enthusiasts alike. This year they will show the entire interior concept on the world stage at their stand of milan’s famous Salone internazionale del mobile furniture fair, with a special event on 18th april 2012 at the aston martin milano showroom. The sleek and seductive collection has been developed specifically to reflect the uncompromising level of design, comfort, luxury and performance embodied by a modern aston martin sports car: bespoke frames incorporating wood, steel and carbon fibre all combined with fine leathers and wools to offer ergonomic and luxuriant comfort to the owner, a stylish and sophisticated addition to any contemporary living space.

like all of formiTalias furniture, every piece in the aston martin interiors collection is ‘made in italy’ in the Tuscan region, in the cities of firenze, prato, pistoia and pisa. The first formitalia design collection was created in 1991, its instant and continuing success stems from the high level of knowledge and understanding of leather hides, and its selection of the most valuable tanning treatments, from ostrich to crocodile. The knowledge accrued through various partnerships with luxury brands including the architect mirko Tattarini monti have provided formitalia with the expertise required to communicate aston martin’s brand values of power, Beauty and Soul.
