Now in its eleventh year, this course provides a comprehensive and practical review of internal medicine. Aimed at physicians preparing for the American Board of Internal Medicine Certification or Recertification Examination, it is also appropriate for any physician seeking an intensive review of internal medicine. The curriculum covers primary care, every medical subspecialty, and selected outside specialties such as neurology, dermatology, and psychiatry. The interactive format is designed to actively engage participants and to provide optimal preparation for passing the examinations. Lectures are organized around boards-style questions. Course participants will use the Audience Response System to anonymously answer these questions and receive real-time feedback about their fund of knowledge. Course faculty is comprised of esteemed UCSF clinicians and teachers, many of whom wrote or edited the McGraw-Hill review book First Aid for the Medicine Boards.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?Internists who are preparing to take the ABIM Certification or Recertification Exam in August 2013 or later. This course is designed to actively engage participants and to provide optimal preparation for passing the exam and for Internists who desire to improve their patient care practice.

WHY CHOOSE UCSF?UCSF has over 30 years of distinguished CME expertise. UCSF faculty presenting at this course were involved in writing and editing the review book from McGraw-Hill, First Aid for the Medicine Boards.UCSF is competitively priced, providing the highest value for registration fees and accommodations.San Francisco is a world-class destination with superb cultural, dining, and recreational offerings.

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:• Identify strengths and weaknesses in their own knowledge of internal

medicine and successfully address these in preparation for the ABIM Certification or Recertification examination and for their ongoing clinical practice;

• Incorporate important evidence-based advances in clinical medicine over the past decade in clinical practice;

• Improve strategies to diagnosing, treating, and preventing important conditions in general internal medicine and medicine subspecialties for improved patient outcomes;

• Provide optimal care expected of a general internist for conditions in non-medicine specialties (e.g. neurology, psychology, and dermatology).
