Invitalia, The Italian National development agency, has been appointed by Italian Government for land

ownership and as operating body for land remediation project and urban development

Bagnoli area covers 2.5 square kilometres and hosted

one of the largest European steelworks plant

The plant was shut down in 1993

in August 2019, the Italian President of the Republic approved the new urban development plan, which

defines the usage of the whole area and the volumes of the new buildings

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

Stage one: selection of the first 20 teams on the basis of suitable requisites specified in the Competition

Regulations

Application must be submitted by 11 a.m, 12th of November 2019

Stage two: the 20 selected teams will be asked to produce their project ideas of Bagnoli

The prizes for the first three project ideas are:

• 1st classified € 150,000.00

• 2nd classified € 100,000.00

• 3rd classified € 75,000.00

In accordance with the Italian law, Invitalia has the right to entrust the winner with the next stage of planning

of the park for an estimated value of 4.1 million euros.

THE NEW FUNCTIONS OF BAGNOLIThe PRARU (Program for Environmental Rehabilitation and Urban Regeneration) aims is to see the area as an integral part of the urban

and landscape fabric, in order to have the area totally restored designing the new landscape of Bagnoli

The development plan aims to transform the area in an urban attractor with the following functions:

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION – The project

The project idea will involve the following themes:

territorial continuity

park and waterfront

enhancement of industrial archaeological artefacts

unitarily of the waterfront from the North jetty to the tourist port in Nisida in the redesign of the new coastline

tracks and routes

restoration of the building fabric of Borgo Coroglio and integration of the village in the new configuration of the

waterfront;

resettlement of the burnt volumes of the Idis-Città della Scienza Foundation and recovery of the ruins along the new

waterfront;

new building types and bioclimatic criteria

The area is on the Western border of Naples,

full of typical goods and places of attraction

recognized as UNESCO World Heritage.

Bagnoli is included in a landscape of particular

environmental, natural and archeological value

like disuses artifacts, cultural and sport activities

“City of Science, ex Ilva Sports club , Sports

park, and commercial and tourist
