English or polishing your proficiency to get ready for

university, let Langara help you improve your English

and prepare you for your future studies.

Canada and also helped me find the confidence

to write. I used to have problems with my

writing. I now can write easily and clearly.”

mehdi abbaspour, iran

“I can say honestly that my experience

in the program was really enthusiastic,

full of fun, full of knowledge, and most

importantly, full of new academic skills at

each level. We had seminar discussions and

gave research presentations. In Level 8, I

wrote a research paper related to my area of

interest and I’m using it to apply to Canadian

and non-Canadian universities. We learned

tons of useful skills from very qualified,

knowledgeable, and helpful instructors!”

“The LEAP Program is the best academic

preparation program. It helped me a lot to

build a strong foundation and prepare me for

my future study. I think every single thing

I learned from LEAP was applied to further

my study. After LEAP, I took my first- and

second-year university-transfer courses at

Langara. I then transferred to UBC. I got my

bachelor’s degree specializing in logistics and

Activities & workshops beyond the classroom.Langara pLus program

Education is more than just classroom learning. To be competitive

both academically and professionally, you need more than

Langara PLUS program. It is a program developed especially for

international students to help:

• Improve your social skills and interpersonal skills

• Develop your intercultural awareness

• Improve your physical fitness

Most of the workshops, events and activities are provided at no cost

to you. We want to enhance your life at Langara and in the city of

Vancouver. A well-rounded student is healthier and more likely to

succeed.

Langara PLUS provides you with academic support as well as

recreational and social opportunities. It features four categories of

activities:

Your Canadian home away from home.Langara homestay program

Get the most out of your international student

experience. Apply for the Langara Homestay program

and live with a Canadian host family while you study.

Learn first hand about the culture and increase your

opportunity to practice your English.

While living with your Canadian host family, you will

have your own bedroom, three meals a day, and the

opportunity to interact with your host family as you

participate in their day-to-day activities and become

part of their family.

Our homestay coordinators are on campus and

available to help you.

We have many different kinds of host families:

parents with young children, parents with teenage

or grown children, single mothers or fathers with

children, couples without children, older couples,

and single individuals without children. And, since

Vancouver is a multi-cultural city, our host families

represent the ethnic diversity of the city. Every host

family is unique, so we hope that our students will

look for the best in their families.

Host homes are located within reasonable

commuting time (45-60 minutes) to the college. Host

families help their students learn the bus route to

and from school and to other areas of the city.

When students apply to homestay, they complete

an application form and provide information about

themselves, their interests, hobbies, and food

preferences. We try our best to match students

with families who have similiar interests and food

preferences.

Our host families look forward to meeting you!
