What are ECAs?

• ECA stands for Extra Curricular Activities• They are an opportunity for you to try

something new and to learn a new skill.• They are an opportunity to meet new friends.• They are a chance to do something you like

and enjoy.• They are a chance to meet and work with new

and different teachers.

Who are ECAs for?

• All students are encouraged to participate in at least one ECA per term.

• If you decide to participate in more than one then you will gain more benefit from that.

Who runs the ECAs?

• All teachers in school run at least one ECA per term.

• Some ECAs are run by people from outside school who come into school to give you more choice of activities.

• Some ECAs may be run by parents or members of UPTA (Uplands Parent Teacher Association).

How do I know what I can choose?

• There are roughly 85 activities over the course of the week that you can choose from.

• There is a wide variety of activities in sport,

art, craft, drama, music and languages.

• If you don’t know what an activity is all about, find the teacher and ask them.

Do I have to pay?

• A lot of ECAs are free• Some ECAs have a small fee for equipment

that you will use in the sessions.• Some ECAs, mainly the one’s from external

providers, have a termly fee. • Any ECAs that incur a fee will be highlighted

on the sign –up page so you know in advance. • Fees charged by external providers will be

charged to your school account each term.

When do I sign –up?

• Electronic sign up will begin on Friday 22nd August at 4pm

• Sign-up will close at 4pm on Tuesday 26th August

• Registers will be posted on the ECA noticeboard on Friday 29th August.

• ECAs will begin on Monday 1st September.

How do I sign up?

• Go onto the Uplands School Website www.uplands.org

• Go to co-curricular• Go to ECAs • Here you will find 2 links: One is to the timetable The other is to the link to the online signup form.

How do I sign up?

• Check the timetable and booklet to be sure what you want to sign up for.

• Click on the link for E-signup and follow the instructions on screen.

• MAKE SURE YOU CLICK ON FINISH AT THE END OF THE SIGNUP

Problems?

• Make sure you know your username and password to log on.

• Make sure you have a good internet connection.

• Speak to IT services in school.
