    Nearly 75% of the Caribbean is of Africandescent.

    Territories like Guyana and Trinidadhowever are 45% Indian and 45% Afro-Caribbean.

    In most of the other territories there is asmall percentage of Indian, Chinese andCaucasians.

    The Caribbean has given to the worldgreat art and culture. For example,

    Rastafarianism and Reggae were born inJamaica. Calypso was born in Trinidad.Zouk was born in Guadeloupe andDominica. Cricket has become a regionalinstitution. Great poets and writers arealso a part of the Caribbean.

    is the second largest of its kind in theworld. The Dominica Creole Music Festivaland the Grenada Spice Festival are alsoworld class events.

    While most of the territories of theCaribbean speak English, 75% of the

    Caribbeans speak Spanish. This is becausethe larger territories with the mostdensely populated people are Spanishspeakers. There is a smaller butsignificant French and Dutch speakingpopulation.

    Most of the Caribbean has few physicalresources. The human resource is

    therefore the most important resource.Second to this would be sun and sand,making tourism and agriculture veryimportant industries.
