Adabas Parallel Services for Unparalleled Performance and Lower CostsDeborah GoltraState of Texas, USA

Installing Adabas Parallel Services allowed a Texas state agency to recently upgrade to a smaller mainframe and save almost $1,000,000 in third-party software licensing fees. Parallel Services is an add-on product for Adabas that is surprisingly easy to install. Parallel Services can also be used to improve the reliability of the databases for companies that are required to provide 24x7x365 processing.

Project zosulix : Successful Migration of 1250 Customers from z/OS to LinuxIngo BrandesTravelbasys, Germany

Increasing mainframe cost and complexity of adoption of customer needs has forced travelbasys to replace the mainframe after 20 years in production. Instead of replacing Software AG products, travelbasys has kept their knowledge and IP and migrated all of their products for more than 1250 customers and 3.5 billion data records to Linux. This more than 3000-man day project was done in collaboration with Software AG and Xerox IT. The new system is running in production since November 2014. Since then, travelbasys has been able to integrate more customers and their needs.

Digital Transformation of the Application PortfolioAmarish PathakAAFMAA, USAAli ManouchehriMetroStar Systems, USA

Today companies are demanding modern and agile business solutions to support rapid innovation within their application portfolio and provide new sets of capabilities for business growth and productivity.

Learn from this presentation about how an insurance organization was able to quickly and efficiently transform systems and processes using Software AG products to enable new business innovation and meet increasing customer expectations.

Things to Keep in Mind when Moving from Mainframe to LUWPeter LeiblSoftware AG User Group Austria

A long time ago, Natural was ported to run not only on mainframes but also on Windows and Unix machines. “Write Natural code once, run everywhere” - is this only a marketing slogan or reality? For 99.9% it’s true, but there is a small sector where the behaviour of Adabas and Natural is different. The presentation will show some discrepancies between mainframes and the LUW platforms and will help you to create 100% portable source code. And finally - based on successful re-hosting projects in Austria - the presentation points out the goals and benefits and the potential of the LUW platform.

Automated Testing of Webservices with Natural ONEJosef WohlCentrale de Compensation CdC, Switzerland

Based on the long-term IT strategy of Central Compensation Office (CCO) in Switzerland, this presentation will show how the development environment based on Natural ONE is used by CCO to modernize Natural legacy applications.

As new applications and user interfaces are created with non-Software AG technologies, the existing business logic of the Natural applications will be accessed via Web Services. Automatic testing is essential for this approach and can be achieved with eclipse-based Natural ONE and SoapUI, an open source functional testing solution. The presentation will show the integration of SoapUI and other third-party or open-source tools into Natural ONE.

Using EAM to Help IT Keep Pace with a Dynamic Business EnvironmentClaus ThiedeContinental, Germany

As in many large, global enterprises, IT is faced with a continually changing business environment. New product development demands new IT support requiring changes to the application landscape that in turn require changes to the underlying infrastructure. Strategic business initiatives influence the number of employees in various locations requiring changes to network capacities. Maintaining transparency and governance over the IT is a constant challenge. Find out what EAM approach is used by Continental to master the complexity presented by a dynamic business environment.

Application Portfolio Management at Deutsche BankArtur Kalis / Hugo PreissDeutsche Bank, Germany

This presentation provides insight into the evolutionary implementation of Application Portfolio Management (APM) at Deutsche Bank. Beginning in 2011, an APM mindset has supported management decisions in the face of a continually changing IT environment and business needs. PEARL – transforming the role of a ‘traditional’ Architecture function

Philips has embarked on an ambitious multi-year transformation. At the heart of this transformation sits the Philips Excellence Architecture Reference Library (PEARL) which provides a living view of business capabilities, architecture, program portfolio, costs, and the dependencies between them. But what is exceptional in case of Philips – is that PEARL has also redefined the role of the ‘traditional’ Architecture function. Breaking all myths around Architecture as an Ivory Tower, Philips is now using PEARL to ensure Architecture is guiding the way in simplifying IT, supporting transformation programs but also driving cost reduction. PEARL is powered by Alfabet and ARIS.

Finding Business Value in the Internet of Things

Driven by the availability of cheap sensors and ubiquitous networks, organizations are connecting products, assets, and people like never before. Many are building massive data lakes to store all their information, not wanting to throw anything away due to its perceived intrinsic value. But the business value in the Internet of Things (IoT) doesn’t lie in how much data you generate or collect – the value lies in what you do with it and when you do it. Join me to learn about new and creative ways companies are taking advantage of the IoT to drive new revenue and decrease costs by acting on insights in real-time.

Premier Maintenance and SupportEben van HeerdenVP Global Maintenance,Software AG

For Software AG, customer centricity is so much more than building a customer-oriented business. It’s about helping and enabling customers to succeed and stand out in today’s Digital World. It’s about putting them at the center of everything we do - from driving co-innovation with our customers, to the way we sell and support our platforms and services.

Today’s Digital World has removed all boundaries of time and space, and gives a new meaning to availability. Delivering goods and services 24 hours a day and 7 days a week is no longer a competitive differentiator. It is the new and expected standard.

Therefore, to further enable our customers to be even more successful, Software AG has launched their new Premier Maintenance and Support Plan, designed to not only enhance our customers’ operations, but to also improve their experience with our platform and services.

During this session, Eben van Heerden will firstly give an overview of what is included, and secondly, how customers can benefit from Premier Maintenance and Support.

In-Memory & Streaming Analytics with webMethods

As enterprises strive to become more customer centric there is an increasing need to process, analyse and react to data in real-time. Our in-Memory and streaming analytics platforms are used throughout the Software AG suite to help our customers process and gain insights from the torrents of fast big data which are driven by social, mobile and cloud. OpenCAF - Live Demo

BPMS and process application development continues to become more dynamic as OpenCAF opens up a whole host of new possibilities for modern HTML-5 and responsive based web applications . Meanwhile, MWS and the Task Engine reach new levels of scalability and performance. This discussion will be a review of new performance and scalability of the Task Engine and MWS as well as a demonstration of a variety of ways to adopt and use OpenCAF.. App Platform - Live Demo

Many solutions developed using webMethods have a need for some custom business logic for which Flow and Java services are a little too limited. webMethods 9.8 introduces Application Platform, which allows business logic to be developed using industry standard Java methodologies like POJOs and Spring Beans and deployed into webMethods runtime containers. A live demo will show how this is achieved and showcases the exciting possibilities this opens up.

Oriflame’s IT Supports Business Innovation through Effective IntegrationJaroslav KratochvilOriflame Global IT, Sweden

Oriflame’s average annual growth of 14 percent over the past 20 years and expansion into more than 40 countries has brought many business challenges as well as challenges for Oriflame’s Global IT Group: to incorporate new markets, adapt requirements and manage disparate business needs. At Oriflame, the one business constant is clearly change. To increase flexibility and readiness to adapt for future business demands, Oriflame had to better align its Enterprise Architecture and also to standardize its integration enterprise wide. This enabled IT to exchange partners more easily, deploy solutions quicker, employ shared services and support local customizations without compromising enterprise-level IT control.

ARIS 9 Suite Overview & RoadmapDr. Helge HessSVP Product Management, Software AGDr. Katrina SimonProduct Management, Software AG

New business models are the driver and processes are the enabler for the ongoing digital transformation. ARIS is the most successful platform in the market for strategizing and planning the transformation of a company - allowing business and IT to collaborate for true end-to-end improvements, guided by the necessary governance.

ARIS 9 summarizes the know-how of thousands of successful projects in the areas of Business Process Analysis, Enterprise Architecture and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) with state-of-the art technologies to provide customers with a “single point of information and interaction” and to combine process management with the current requirements of the market and agile, process-aware and knowledge-based organizations.

In this session, we will have a closer look at the most relevant innovations now available with the latest releases of ARIS. Furthermore, we glance at new usage scenarios transferring process management to a new level of importance and value: new mobile-driven use cases and the next generation of process portals integrate process knowledge into the daily work; the analysis of customer journeys is becoming key to digital transformation in the age of the customer; and the integration of documents and policies with process management increases the immediate business value of a process platform.

Directors are under increasing pressure to demonstrate they have effective, robust and practical real-time control assurance and governance in place across the organization. Plausible denial is no longer a defense against non-compliance to increasingly complex legislation. Centrica uses ARIS to tackle this challenge by mapping out organizational processes, structure and regulatory requirements. Workflow in ARIS Risk & Compliance Manager ensures control assurance is actively managed. With more than 6,000 users, the company has made control assurance a core activity.

Fortum has been using ARIS mainly to describe our processes with a start from 2006. In this presentation the aim is to share some parts from our journey and hopefully give an extra layer and weight to the old saying “A tool is just a tool – it´s what we do with the tool that creates value” with some organisation and governance aspects as icing on the cake.

The role of ARIS GRC Platform in iGRC

When you think about it, the insights you need for GRC are not so very different from the insights you need to run your business most effectively. In both cases, you need deep insight into the operations of your enterprise. You need to understand how efficiently your business processes are operating, whether your supply chains are flexible and responsive, and whether you have backup and contingency plans in place to deal with changes that will affect your ability to compete. You need to know what’s going into your products, where it’s coming from and what factors might complicate or compromise your ability to create and deliver your products. You need to know which areas of the enterprise are working well and which need to be improved.

The more insight you have into your enterprise and its operations, the more effectively you can refine your enterprise to meet customer needs and compete in a global marketplace. The more control you have over those processes, the more quickly and effectively you can tune those processes to respond to changes or new opportunities in the marketplace.

In this session, we will get insight how GRC and BPA are interrelated. We will illustrate how BPA can be complemented with GRC relevant information to increase transparency and create one common basis for all relevant stakeholder. Furthermore, we will present, what building blocks and use cases Software AG’s GRC products provide to help you manage your GRC system.

Our step by step approach shows you how Software AG can help you on your way to 4th generation GRC: GET THE FOUNDATION - GET IT MANAGED - GET IT OPTIMIZED.
