• The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on December 30, 2008, formally declaring 2011 as the International Year of Chemistry (IYC).
• American Chemical Society supported advocacy efforts culminating in the United Nations’ IYC designation.
• Led by IUPAC and UNESCO, the principal goal of IYC is to celebrate the achievements of chemistry and its contributions to the well-being of humankind.
• IYC objectives align with the ACS vision and mission and several of ACS’s strategic goals
• IYC Theme: Chemistry – our life, our future
