Accessing Internet Native Banner (INB) Internet-Native Banner (INB) should only be accessed through Internet Explorer if using a PC or Mozilla Firefox if using a Mac. Google Chrome and Safari should not be used to access INB. If accessing INB from off campus, a secure connection (VPN) is needed. Please remember that it is your responsibility to maintain the security of your account, and sharing your User ID and password with anyone is prohibited. Logging into INB:

1. Open Internet Explorer if using a PC or open Firefox if using a Mac (preferred browsers).

2. Go to ULink – ulink.louisiana.edu

3. Log into ULink using your Username (ULID) and Password.

4. Click on the Faculty or the Advisor tab.

5. In the Banner Links box, click on the Authorized INB User Access (Internet Explorer only) link.

6. Log into INB using your Username (ULID) and Password.

7. If you encounter a Java Update message, select Later.

8. If you encounter a Security Warning, select continue.

9. If you encounter a Do you want to run this application page, select Run.

INB Main Menu

Navigating to a Specific Form:

1. Go To/Direct Access • Enter form name in the Go To box for direct access to the form.

2. Hierarchical Menu

• Display form (screen) names on hierarchical menu: o Click File. o Click Preferences. o Check the box for “Display Form Name on Menu.” o Save (F10). o Log out and back into Banner to see change.

• Add commonly used screens to the My Banner folder:

o When on specific form, right click to open shortcut menu. o Select Add to Personal Menu to add the form you are on to your My Banner folder. o Log out and back into Banner to see change.

Navigating within Forms: 1. Menu Bar (File, Edit, Options, etc.)

• Available at top of page on each form. • Contains drop-down options for various actions (File Save, etc.). • File Direct Access (Shortcut: F5) – brings up Go To box. • File shows list of forms accessed during current session.

2. Toolbar (icons for Save, Rollback, etc.)

• Available at top of page on each form. • Roll over the icon to view information about its functions.

3. Shortcuts

• Save = F10 • Rollback = Shift + F7 • Exit/Close form = Ctrl + Q • Next Block = Ctrl + Page Down • Previous Block = Ctrl + Page Up • Enter Query = F7 • Execute Query = F8 • Cancel Query = Ctrl + Q • Direct Access bar = F5 (call/dismiss) • Insert Record = F6 • Remove Record = Shift + F6

** Refer to Ellucian – Banner Navigation Short Cut Keys attachment for complete list of navigation shortcuts. ** Right-click on any form to access the Options menu, which contains form-specific items (ex. other related forms). Help:

Concepts to Know: Key Block – The Key Block is the starting point on each form and is used to identify what record will be retrieved. Next Block – The Next Block function (Ctrl + Page Down) is used to move from the Key Block to the Information Block. Information Block – The Information Block is the portion of the form where the record indicated in the Key Block will be displayed. Roll Back – The Roll Back function (Shift + F7) allows the user to return from the Information Block back to the Key Block.

Term Codes: Term codes include the four digit academic year with a two digit code to indicate the actual term (i.e., Fall = 20, Spring = 40, etc.). Terms can normally be selected from a drop-down list of values or the term code can be entered. Examples for the 2017 academic year are below:

Please note that there are two part of terms attached to the fall and spring semester. There part of terms are referred to as A-term and B-term. These part of terms are used for half-term/accelerated courses.

minor).

SFAREGQ – Registration Query

Navigation:

1. Enter the term code (ex. 201720 for Fall 2016) or select from drop-down list of values.. 2. Enter the student’s ID number. 3. Next Block (Ctrl + Page Down) to access student’s current registration/schedule.

SHATERM – Term Sequence Course History

Navigation:

1. Enter the student’s ID number. 2. Enter the student’s level (UG = Undergraduate; GR = Graduate). 3. Do not populate start term! 4. Next Block (Ctrl + Page Down) to access current academic standing and GPA information

(institution, transfer and overall). 5. Click the Term GPA and Course Detail Information tab or Next Block (CTRL + Page Down) to

reach course information by term. 6. Use scroll bar in the Term GPA to view move from term to term viewing term/cumulative GPA and

coursework for specific terms.

Academic Status SGASTDQ Enter ID Number, then Next Block (Ctrl + Page Down). Displays history of academic standing and current program, concentration, and/or minor.

Address SPAIDEN Enter ID Number, then Next Block (Ctrl + Page Down). Click on the Address tab. (MA = Mailing; PR= Permanent)

Advisor SGAADVR Enter ID Number and Term code, then Next Block (Ctrl + Page Down). Displays advisors assigned to student for term.

Application Information

SAADCRV Enter ID Number, then Next Block (Ctrl + Page Down). Displays application decision, high school/college, and test score information (by tabs).

Class Schedule SFAREGQ Enter Term and ID Number, then Next Block (Ctrl + Page Down). Displays student’s schedule for a term.

Course History SHATERM Enter ID Number and Student Level (UG = Undergraduate; GR = Graduate), then Next Block (Ctrl + Page Down). First tab displays current GPA and standing. Next tab displays information by term, including courses/grades. Includes transfer and institutional credits.
