Tra Que Vegetable Village & Lantern Making, an Intercruises shore excursion in Vietnam, has reached the final round of the prestigious Seatrade Insider Innovative Shorex Award. The winner of the award will be announced during a special awards ceremony in Barcelona on September 17th, during Seatrade Med. Tra Que Vegetable Village & Lantern Making• Visit Hoi An, a traditional town and UNESCO World Heritage site full of historic architecture• Cycle to Tra Que village to help the locals with gardening and preparing lunch• Learn about and make Vietnamese lanterns with a local craftsman
Full DescriptionYour Vietnamese experience starts in Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site that has remained unchanged for centuries and boasts historic architecture, including temples and community houses. From here, cycle to Tra Que village to stroll the vegetable garden and join farmers in preparing the land, fertilizing it with seaweeds from the local lake, raking the ground, sowing seeds, watering plants and picking vegetables. After a short rest and foot-bath, join a local family to prepare a lunch of regional delicacies, including ‘tam huu’ spring rolls and Banh Xeo. After the morning activities and lunch, relax and take a traditional Vietnamese nap, before learning how to harvest and wrap vegetables. After your garden experience, visit the home of a craftsman in the city for a brief introduction to Vietnamese lanterns, before making and decorating your own lanterns to keep as a souvenir.
INTERCRUISES COMMUNICATIONS SURVEY 2014NOVEMBER 2014
Later this year the Intercruises Communications Survey 2014 will be launched and again Intercruises is supporting Save the Children, with $10 donated to the Save the Children Emergency fund for every completed survey. The 2013 version of the survey was distributed to cruise line executives and asked how Intercruises could improve different elements of its communications. For each completed survey, Intercruises made a contribution to the Save the Children Emergency Fund – in total over $3500 was donated. For those that completed last year’s survey, the donation made by Intercruises on your behalf has been helping children affected by emergencies in Syria, the Philippines and Iraq, such as providing blankets for those that no longer have shelter.
