Good evening Engr. Lopos:
Today was twenty – first day of my internship training at NGCP – Biñan Substation. I was
able to finish the 8 hours from 800AM - 500PM with a break of 1 hour. Today, the
substation was still on normal operation during my duty hours even though thecapacitor bank 2 was still shutted down because of the unbalanced phase current
making the circuit breaker connected to it to trip, this condition started last April 27 and
it was still under repair. Also, capacitor bank 1 has the same condition as to capacitor
bank 2, shutted down. Last Saturday, the switchyard circuit breaker tripped and its root
cause was still under observance that is why there is a re testing again of the both
capacitor banks a while ago. But then again, I was tasked to monitor different quantities
on each switchyard equipment so that the maintenance of the good harmony of
operation would be preserved.
At 1000 H, Engr. Oprecio instructed me to accomplished the Maintenance Tagging
Request, Work Permit and the Toolbox Meeting for the caution tags of the re – testing of
capacitor bank 1 and capacitor bank 2. After accomplising such work, I assissted the
team who will do the job. The photo documentation follows:

At 1400 H, I accompanied Engr. Kabamalan on the inventory of different switchyard
equipment and transmission assets such as post insulators, old kind differential relay,
transmission line, switchyard circuit breakers and switchyard lightning arresters and
different gun tri structures. We ere both instructed by the Principal Engineer of our
substation, Engr. Arnold Mendoza.
Every hour, I was assigned to read the following quantities:
a. Voltage, power and phase currents of:
1. 500 kVA T2 Station Service Transformer (NEW CNTRL)
2. 500 kVA T3 Station Service Transformer (SLOM)
b. Voltage and current of:
1. 125 Vdc Battery Charger (1 and 2)
2. 48 Vdc Battery Charger
c. Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Winding Temperature
1. 300 MVA Power Transformer No.1
2. 100 MVA Power Transformer No.2
3. 300 MVA Power Transformer No.3
d. Oil Temperature and Oil Level
1. 300 MVA Power Transformer No.1
2. 100 MVA Power Transformer No.2
3. 300 MVA Power Transformer No.3
e. Gas Circuit Breaker SF6 Pressure (every 1100 H and 1400 H)
1. 27 Switchyard Circuit Breakers
2. Capacitor Bank 1
3. Capacitor Bank 2
f. GCB counter and Lightning Arrester Counter (every 1100 H)
1.
