Introduced 5th grade math teacher to Ten Markswebsite. I helped set up all 3 of her classes on TenMarks and followed up twice to see if it was beneficialto students. During both follow-ups, I was informed thatthe teacher had not been able to find time to use thewebsite as a station or in the computer lab.

Reflection: I would have preferred to meet with her earlier in the year as I had scheduled

in my plan; however, both of our schedules were prohibitive. She will not be teaching thesame grade level next year and 5th grade will no longer be departmentalized at ourschool; however, I would like to introduce the site to other 5th grade teachers in thehopes that it will help them meet student needs in light of new standardized testing.

Reflection: We had technology issues at our technology committee meeting on this day.Our district ITC even tried to log in through a proxy server and we still could not getinternet to remain working. We did discuss the Discovery Education lessons and I wasable to share some useful ideas as well as hear some interesting things that other gradelevels are doing with Discovery Education. It would have been nice to SEE the links theteachers were using; however, we were able to take notes to pass on to other teacherson our teams.

presented in December 2011 but that meeting was cancelled by our District ITC. Ipresented the information in January 2012 to our campus technology committee. Initially, there were side conversations going on but then teachers began to show interest insome of the available lessons. I was happy they began to pay attention because I spentseveral hours researching the site to be able to show teachers what was available tothem including virtual field trips and lesson plans incorporating technology.

Field-based Activities Summary Report and Validation: ReflectionGuidelines

Instructions: You are required to reflect on each of your field-based activities by completing a reflection that

should contain a minimum of 250 words. These reflections will be used to assist you in completing Week 5

of your EDLD 5388/5370 Internship comprehensive exam/final report. Students should use the guidelinesbelow to reflect on each of their field-based activities citing textbook references as well as three additional

    reference when writing each reflection.

Reflections allow you to analyze on the knowledge you gained from the Internship activity and the associatedStandard/Indicator associated with the activity as well as how the activity helped you master the

Standard/Indicator. The act of reflection is influenced by constructivist theory. In essence, it is a way of

thinking that allows you to make adjustments to your beliefs or concepts, to learn from your or others

mistakes, to recognize progress you think you have made, and/or to identify needed changes in attitude,

    disposition, decision-making, actions, or behaviors.

Reflection at a critical level means writing text that reveals your opinion of the reading or experience, why

you hold that opinion, how the experience/assignment/reading could be improved, how you see the reading or

experience as consistent or inconsistent with what you have learned so far, implications for the future, etc.

Reflection should include more content than just a recitation of facts and you should document your writingwith a minimum of three references.

    Self Assessment

    1. Critically reflect (see note above; not just recitation of facts) upon the knowledge you gained from theactivity.

    2. Critically reflect upon the relationship between any new information you gained from the activity with old

information you previously held to be true.

    3. How did the relationship between the old and new information you learned affect your personal experience

    with the activity?

    Learn as a Learner

    1. Critically reflect (see note above; not just recitation of facts) upon your approach and strategies used in

    completing the activity.

    2. Critically reflect upon how you learn as a learner and how you assess your own performance in completing

    the activity.

    3. How did your learning and interaction with colleagues (such as discussion forum, web conferences, wiki

and blog participation, etc.) affect the results of your performance?

    experiences?

    3. As a lifelong learner, what questions or issues challenge you and are worthy of future research orinvestigation?
