Tsunami Alert.. Since 400GE appeared on the market a complete ecosystem was born, including the following elements:

§ Form Factors (OSFP, QSFP-DD, CFP8)

§ Modulations (PAM4, NRZ)

The different sorts of form factors and ratesout there have generated an extensivevariety of transceivers and cables.

As a test an measurement company wevalue a lot the opportunity to interop withnew manufacturers and test newtechnologies on plug fests and interops.

Different players

Another element inside ethernet networks is theincreasing number of switch fabrics, on data centers,clouds, core, edge, etc.

Key lessons learned when testing these fabrics atinterops:

ü Clean your fibers

ü Generate L2/L3/L4 traffic

ü BERT with different frame sizes (EMIX)

ü Smart loopback (very useful during interop’s)

Another member of the 400G ecosystem is Flexible Ethernet

§ The objective of this technology is to transport several mix clients with different bandwidth (5G, 25G up to 400G) using different high speed interfaces.

§ All the management is done at Layer 2, and its even possible to assign a specific mac address to each client.
