    Engineering background.

    Chief executive of Mechanical engineering section. He contributed outstandingly in the development of

    new product lines specially in the lines of compressorand vacuum pump.

    Known for his honesty, integrity, leadership anddecisiveness.

    As a whole, he is a brilliant engineer.

    Good at human relations.

    Commanded respect from his subordinates.

    Known was for his honesty, simplicity and hardwork.

    Risen to the position of foreman from the level of an

    ordinary helper due to his 10 years of hard work.

    Mr. Keshav The new Works Manager and a recent induction into

    the company.

    Young and energetic Mechanical Engineer with littleknowledge of management.

    Knew his job well and was punctual and strict.

    Mr. Vasudeva spent last 6 months rigorously on redesigning the

    export model-T compressor cum-vacuum pump set. The new model was cost efficient as well as increased efficiency by

    16-20%.

    He depended entirely on Mr. Hanuman because of his ability andtenacity.

    Everyone working under Mr. Hanuman decided not to disclose aboutthe set-up of this machine in front of Mr. Keshav as this new modelwas in its infancy and Mr. Keshav was new at the job and wasalways delighted in any words of appreciation from Mr. Vasudeva.

    One evening, Mr. Keshav saw his six machinist and helpers engaged

    in fabricating a spare part of the pump set as per orders of Mr.Vasudeva.

    Mr. Keshav was happy to see the involvement of the workerstowards work.

    His enthusiasm vanished as he saw in the morning that

    workers were not involved in their routine work last evening. He interrogated workers about the situation in annoyance.

    The workers were confused and didnt know what to say.

    Mr. Hanuman appeared soon and explained the ongoing

    project and its benefits. Mr. Keshav got very angry with Mr. hanuman and

    reprimanded severely.

    He was admonished in the presence of his subordinates andtechnicians present there.

    Mr Hanuman felt confused and humiliated.

    He received show cause notice from Mr. Keshav demandingexplanation which added insult to injury.

    He had no alternative but to report to Mr. Vasudeva but to his

    misfortune, Mr. Vasudeva had already left on foreign tour andwas expected back a month later.

    Mr. Hanuman felt harassed. He went from pillar to post but nohelp or advice was forthcoming.

    Exasperated and hurt, he handed his resignation letter to theGeneral Manager.

    Everyone knew the role he played in developing a new modelT-pump.

    His one weakness was that he was very sensitive and never

    compromise issues affecting his personality and dignity. News of his resignation spread like a wild fire. Every employee

    sympathatic to Mr. Hanumans cause were alarmed andeagerly awaited the outcome

    OUR REVIEWS According to us : the main reason behind the failure of

    interpersonal relationship between Mr. Hanuman andMr. Keshav was that Mr. Keshav was not an efficient

    manager. He was only a mechanical engineer with littleknowledge of management. Still he was appointed as theWorks Manager who has to handle a number ofemployees working under him.

    Oversensitivity : Mr. Hanuman was an honest, hardworking but an

    oversensitive person. Being sensitive is not a bad thing butoversensitivity is something that should not be present in ourprofession.
