From that title I can see that the Author of this poem is a woman who wants to show that she is a real woman, she is a strong woman. I think the author write this title to emphasize that she is very confidence to become a woman. She wants to show her identity that “this is me”, I’m a woman, I never regret to become a woman. At the firs stanza, the author want to tell the reader that someone never know about the other one or someone cannot define and judge the other one because the only one who know or can define someone is their own self. I can see in the sentence “You can’t define who I am you never will, I’m my own person with talent and skill”. In that sentence, she represent a woman and she say that everyone, including a woman have a talent and skill. It’s mean that nobody have a higher status than the other. Everyone has same status. We can judge someone with one perspective only because everyone has different talent or skill and they are special in their own talent or skill. “You think jus cuz you’re a man ill fall at your knees, you think just cuz I’m a women my submission will come at ease”. I’m a Woman Criticism

By: Lamzii

At the first time I read this poem, I directly interested to that title. From that title I can

see that the Author of this poem is a woman who wants to show that she is a real woman, she

is a strong woman. I think the author write this title to emphasize that she is very confidence

to become a woman. She wants to show her identity that “this is me”, I’m a woman, I never

regret to become a woman.

At the firs stanza, the author want to tell the reader that someone never know about

the other one or someone cannot define and judge the other one because the only one who

know or can define someone is their own self. I can see in the sentence “You can’t define

who I am you never will, I’m my own person with talent and skill”. In that sentence, she

represent a woman and she say that everyone, including a woman have a talent and skill. It’s

mean that nobody have a higher status than the other. Everyone has same status. We can

judge someone with one perspective only because everyone has different talent or skill and

they are special in their own talent or skill. “You think jus cuz you’re a man ill fall at your

knees, you think just cuz I’m a women my submission will come at ease”. At this sentence

we can see that the author is a real strong woman. She really wants to delete the

discrimination of gender. She expresses her feeling that she doesn’t like to compared with a

man. She feels that man and woman have a same status and she never want to defeated by

man.

The second and third stanza tells about the “specialty” of man. It’s containing a

something that can do by a man but it can’t do by a woman. “Boys get into groups to talk

about their latest score, a girl will do the same and you call a whore”. The author feels that it

is not fair. Why man can do anything that they want, but the girl is can’t? She shows that she

is a strong woman one more time. She wants to fight the discrimination by showing the

example how man become has a higher status than woman. “You think you have the right to

do what you do cuz of the way I dress. But it aint fair on all the women you oppress. So what

if my skirts a little short or my tops a bit low. Just keep it in your pants as hard as that may be

though”.

Then at the fourth and five stanzas the author expresses her feeling about how society

threats a woman. She feels that woman is treated with less respect. She wants to emphasize

once again that woman and man must have a same status. The author begins to feel that it is

hard to delete the discrimination or the stereotype of woman. She needs a help from reader to

open mind and begin to think that there are no differentiation between man and woman

status. She cannot fight that discrimination alone because it is related to many people. She

needs many people who have the same idea with her to help her fight this discrimination. I

can see from the sentence “But there’s this barrier between the two. And there is hardly much

I can do. It’s time to rid the world of insanity. As difficult as that may be. I think that is a

reason why the author writes this poem”.

The last stanza is a closing of the poem. At this stanza the author really want to make

a status between man and woman become in the same degree. She wants to change the

reader’s mindset that although man may be stronger, taller, and faster but it doesn’t mean that

they are better than woman.

So, after I read all stanza of this poem I can conclude that every stanza containing a

message about the writer desire to be equal with a man. She tells us about why woman should

be equal with a man, and she also ask the reader to support her idea to make a man and

woman become in same degree. I think this poem is very inspire to the woman because this

poem can make woman realize that we are all born with same status and it should be no

differences between man and woman.

You can’t define who I am you never will

I’m my own person with talent and skill

You think jus cuz you’re a man ill fall at your knees

You think just cuz I’m a women my submission will come at ease

Boys get into groups to talk about their latest score

A girl will do the same and you call a whore

You can hav a girl and couple others on the side

But with a girl the same rules aint applied

You think you have the right to do what you do cuz of the way I dress

But it aint fair on all the women you oppress

So what if my skirts a little short or my tops a bit low

Just keep it in your pants as hard as that may be though

Till this day women are treated with less respect

But you need to understand dis aint correct

Come on it’s not hard to see

We are virtually the same at some degree

But there’s this barrier between the two

And there is hardly much I can do

Page 4: interpretating Lamzii's I’m a Woman Criticism

Its time to rid the world of insanity

As difficult as that may be

I get men may be stronger, taller...faster

But it doesn’t mean they’re any better

I’m a woman and there’s a lot to say

But I have to take it day by day
