Based on its relative frequency, each keyword is assigned a technological field: its “home technology”,

Each technology is characterized by a set of keywords we call “home technology terms”,

Each technology is also indexed by keywords from other home technologies:

We were looking for innovation at the intersection of Physics and Engineering or Life Sciences,

Using the well-defined domain classification scheme of the PASCAL database,

We assigned terms to technologies in a pragmatic way “home technology terms”,

To analyze the interrelationships and the trade balance between fields.

How useful is it? Still not sure, but we are working on it.
