Interstate Municipal Gas Agency May-June 2014 Issue 75 2014 IMGA ANNUAL MEETING RECAP The 2014 IMGA Annual Meeting was held in Springfield, Illinois on April 1st at the Northfield Inn. Mem- bers enjoyed great food and informative sessions on Pipeline Safety, Price Reaction to Bullish Fundamentals and Interstate Pipeline Operations in Extreme Weather Conditions. The day started with a hearty breakfast buffet sponsored by BP Canada, which was followed by the IMGA Business Meeting. During the business meeting, it was decided that the board officers would remain the same as last year with the exception of Brent Buerck who is leaving the board and will be replaced by Darrell Dunlap from Fulton. Following the business meeting, Allan Beshore, Senior En- gineer with the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration spoke about Pipeline Safety. We then heard from Paul Burgener, Director of Structured Products Americas of BP Energy Company. After Paul’s presentation, members enjoyed a delicious Prime Rib and Shrimp buffet sponsored by Panhandle Eastern Pipeline. After lunch, Jackie Butler Sr. Director, Sales with PEPL spoke about Interstate Pipeline Operations in Extreme Weather Conditions. At the conclusion of the day, IMGA General Manager, Heather Viele, had the honor of drawing names for the door prizes donated by the following sponsors: IMGA BP Canada Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Northfield Inn, Suites & Conference Center.

2013 NATURAL GAS USE Natural gas is a major energy source for the United States. About 25% of energy used in the U.S. came from natural gas in 2013. The United states used 26 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas in 2013. Natural gas is used to produce steel, glass, paper, clothing, brick, electricity, and as an es-sential raw material for many common products. Some products that use natural gas as a raw material are: paints, fertilizers, plastics, antifreeze, dyes, photographic film, medicines, and explosives. Slightly more than half of the homes in the U.S. use natural gas as their main heating fuel. Natural gas is also used in homes to fuel stoves, water heaters, clothes dryers, and other household appliances. The major consumers of natural gas in the United States in 2013 are: Electric power sector– 8.2 Tcf Industrial sector– 7.5 Tcf Residential sector– 4.9 Tcf Commercial sector– 3.3 Tcf Source: EIA

IMGA is pleased to announce their association with DD Farms of Pawnee, IL starting Feb. 1, 2014. They are a grain drying operation that approached IMGA asking to purchase gas through us using Ameren for transportation.
