Do’s and Don’t’s to Remember!

Be Prepared

• Learn about the companies products or services.

• Talk to people who work there.

• Know the common questions:

Why do you want to work for us?

What do you know about us?

Why are you the right person?

What kind of work are you seeking?

Look Your Best

• Hair & nails should be neat and clean

• Keep makeup to a minimum

• Hide piercings and tattoos

• Appropriate clothing (dress for the job)

• Clothing should be clean

• Avoid tight, skimpy clothing

Show Confidence

• Don’t bring friends or family members

• Arrive at least 5 minutes early

• Greet interviewer with a firm handshake

• Use good posture and look alert

• Never chew gum or smoke

• Discuss your work experiences, abilities, interests and career goals

• Tell them if you believe you can do the job

Have a Positive Attitude

• Be enthusiastic• Answer with a yes or no but be ready for

questions requiring more complete answers• If the job is offered you may discuss benefits• The interviewer usually brings up pay rate• Ask the interviewer when a final decision will be

made• Thank the interviewer for considering you

Send a Follow-Up Letter

• Thank the interviewer again

• It will remind interviewer of you interest

• Keep it brief

• Follow-up with a phone call if you haven’t heard anything by the promise date.

• Don’t be discouraged if you don’t receive a job offer right away
