Z-80 ZodiacMagic musicTHIS MZ-80 Basic program is an attemptto overcome the difficulties in writingmusic strings for the MZ-80 by providinga sheet music input and display writeTony and Nigel Sale of Bromham, Bed¬fordshire.

The music notes can be edited on to aFive-line stave using the normal f \shift keys. If a mistake is made, the notecan be removed by space, and a part of astave can be re-instated by using thehyphen symbol.

When a page is complete, the music upto the current X position can be compiledinto a music string, played and stored inPG$(PG) by pressing Q for quit. Notethat if you edit, the X must be moved tothe right of the last note as anything to theright of the X will be lost.

Whenever a new page is selected bypressing P at the X point, if there is amusic string in PGS(PG), it will be trans¬lated back into music notation and re¬displayed on the stave. All pages can beplayed sequentially by pressing S at the Xpoint.

All pages can be written to a data tapeby pressing W. The default name is musicdata, any other name can be used bypressing N. To read music back fromtape, set the name using N, and press R toread all pages back.

To delete a note and shift the rest to theleft, replace the note with *, put X at thefar right and then Q. To make space for anote, place / above the note, put X at thefar right and then Q. Joined notes areindicated by immediately preceding thesecond note by _ — thin bottom line. Agap between notes is treated as a rest.
