Do you WANT your classes to be like the one in the video?

What makes you excited, nervous, or scared in using

    technology in class?

  • Even students feel the same!!!

  • Education needs to move WITH technology without losing its bedrock beliefs - its main

    solid foundations and principles.

Technology is a tool constantly changing to improve the life of students and teachers.

Integrating technology tools in learning opens up for more possibilities - for students and

    teachers.

  • Technology Integration: Back to Basics

  • Technology Integration: Back to BasicsIS NOT IS

putting computers in the classroom without

    student or teacher training.

using computer skills and tech devices in different subject

    areas for meaningful learning

just teaching the students how to use Office or Adobe or any other

    software or applications

using technology tools in different areas of learning,

such as in assessment, classroom management

simply installing electronic encyclopedias or databases in

    computers

using software or applications so students learn to use computers

flexibly, purposefully and creatively - making products that

    were unimaginable.

  • Technology Integration: Back to Basics

Technology integration is having the curriculum drive technology usage, not having technology drive the curriculum.

    http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~coesyl-p/principle3-article2.pdf

Technology integration should enhance and support learning - aiming for the achievement

of the learning goals in the curriculum.

  • Why Integrate Technology in the Curriculum? the integration of technology with classroom

content improves student achievement. Thoughtfully planned, such lessons engage students to a higher

degree than traditional teaching and lead to the development of 21st-century skills such as complex

thinking, creative problem solving, and collaboration.

(International Society for Technology in Education), 2007.

  • Why Integrate Technology in the Curriculum?

    http://www.edutopia.org/technology-integration-introduction

to prepare students for complex, real-life problems that are technology-based

to help students improve in the following areas: active engagement, collaboration and interaction with other learners, solving real-life challenges.

to develop teachers as facilitators of learning - guiding and coaching students as they go through more student-centered learning processes

  • Technology Integration: Back to Basics

    http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~coesyl-p/principle3-article2.pdf

Its not using technology for technologys sake. It is using technology for learnings

    sake.

  • STOPLIGHT: QUESTIONS TO ASK

Can technology replace the teacher inside the classroom?

    http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~coesyl-p/principle3-article2.pdf

What is the role of the teacher then?

  • Before proceeding, let us remind ourselves of the values of

openness and of learning from the wisdom of tradition.

Learning is not anymore confined inside the four walls of the classroom. Learning is mobile. It can happen anywhere.

Students can learn anything from anybody, even from the internet. What is the role of the teacher then?

  • #BYOD - Students are allowed to bring any digital device that can help them in their tech sessions in class.

    http://cdn2.hubspot.net/hub/80068/file-15697864-jpg/images/byod_(1).jpg

#One2One - Students are required to bring a tablet or

laptop of the same kind. Some schools enter into

agreement with device providers or might simply ask the students to purchase the required device on their own.
