ORGANIC PHOTOVOLTAIC YOUR DESIGN OUR FUNCTIONALITY

PORTFOLIO Imagine a window that could produce energy, to power your building or home and be transparent!

We all know about BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) energy and the benefits from having them installed to roofs at homes and used to create solar farms. Typical BIPV cells are opaque and not aesthetically pleasing, they have limited use and generally not recyclable.

'Belectric', the world leader in construction of solar power plants have teamed with My Glass Projects Ltd for the introduction and manufacture of Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) technology.

OPV is suitable for use in windows and is capable of controlling transparency for privacy, regulating the wavelength of light passing through for energy conservation and for aesthetics. Colour tints and designs are available along with superior power output. The materials are capable of capturing indoor as well as outdoor light, the solar modules can be integrated into building sensors, battery chargers, lighting and displays, and wireless security monitoring systems.

Incorporating our OPV into Architectural and Structural glass structures will revolutionise the use of architectural glass in the future.

We can even incorporate special designs such as images which still produce power. Depending on the design of the glass or unit the OPV offer superior solar control and thermal insulation, which results in improved u -value and g- value.

We are doing various tests to incorporate OPV with polycarbonate and glass construction modules for security and will be ready for full manufacture towards the end of 2016.

WHAT IS ORGANIC PHOTOVOLTAICS? An organic solar cell or plastic solar cell is a type of photovoltaic that uses organic electronics, a branch of electronics that deals with conductive organic polymers or small organic molecules, for light absorption and charge transport to produce electricity from sunlight by the photovoltaic effect. An example of an organic photovoltaic is the polymer solar cell.

The molecules used in organic solar cells are solution-process able at high throughput and are cheap, resulting in low production costs to fabricate a large volume. Combined with the flexibility of organic molecules, organic solar cells are potentially cost-effective for photovoltaic applications. Molecular engineering (e.g. changing the length and functional group of polymers) can change the band gap, allowing for electronic tunability. The optical absorption coefficient of organic molecules is high, so a large amount of light can be absorbed with a small amount of materials, usually on the order of hundreds of nanometres.

THE WOW TECHNOLOGY Organic Photovoltaics (OPV) isn’t just a technology of the 3rd generation of PV - it is also a WOW technology with unique features, offering unlimited freedom of design.

INTEGRABLE

Multi fold integration possibilities can be explored, whether inlay in glass, lamination on different materials or direct integration in products.

CUSTOMIZABLE

From the outer to the inner values: Different unique shapes and looks according to your design match electric customization.

CONTINOUS

Offering increased production efficiency by low energy consumption during production and short energetic payback time combined with low to no use of rare materials. Further our OPV is proven to be sustainable in terms of carbon footprint as well as end-of-life treatments.

APPLICATIONS

DESIGN The photovoltaic active base material manufactured by Belectric OPV is characterized by freedom of design, shape, and material. It is ideally suited for simple integration into applications and products.

In the printed OPV modules, energy is generated by organic carbon-based semiconductors under the influence of light. The solar panels are manufactured according to a cost-efficient printing procedure.

ARCHITECTURE

The flexible photovoltaics of the series present completely new possibilities for the integration of energetically active components into architecture and product design.

The range of application options could not be more diverse: The spectrum ranges from energy production for lighting objects, transparent and coloured accessories for sport, leisure, and fashion, through to attractive PV surfaces to match the design, or inlays for product integration into all kinds of mobile and stationary applications. Furthermore, the new range also includes products that focus on the architecture sector and offer unprecedented possibilities for energy harvesting in façade design and urban furnishings.
