Introduction

Employers have a duty to protect the

safety and health of its employees at the

workplace. Lowering safety and health

risk is a priority for a sustainable business

and also retention of employees.

Workplace injury and diseases will result in

sufferings and misery to the affected

worker. Moreover, the affected worker

may require medical treatment to

recover and this will also affect the

worker’s life and his family as whole. As a

result, the productivity and economic of

country will reduce significantly. It is

therefore essential for all employers to

pursue the objective of an occupational

safety and health program as a human

right of each worker striving towards the

achievement of the highest standards of

economic, physical, mental and social

well-being.

Programme Itinerary

Speakers Biodata Ir. Saiful Azhar bin Mohd Said is currently the Director of Petroleum Safety

from the Department of Safety and Health, Putrajaya. He holds a Bachelor of

Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University. He

has been with DOSH for the last 23 years. Other positions that he held at DOSH

before include Director of DOSH Terengganu, Director of DOSH Melaka, and

Deputy Director of DOSH Perak.

Dr. Jasbeer Singh a/l Balwant Singh is currently the Senior Principal

Assistant Director and Occupational and Environmental Consultant at Penang

State Health Department. He completed his Master’s Degree in Occupational

and Environmental Health from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. . He obtained

membership in the Faculty of Occupational Medicine Royal College of

Physicians Ireland. He is in charge of safety, health and environment of all health

care facilities in Penang State which includes six hospitals various health clinics,

dental facilities, pharmacy department etc. He is appointed a member of

SOCSO panel board for occupational diseases compensation in Penang state.

He is also a visiting lecturer of Penang Medical College and a member of the

Society of Occupational Physicians.

Dr. Wong Kar Lin holds a Master Degree in Occupational Medicine, Health

and Safety from Edith Cowan University, Australia. He is an appointed NIOSH

lecturer and trains doctors to be OH doctors as well. Currently he is the Director

of Poliklinik Pan-Medic and Pan Esh Consultancy that provides Occupational

Health & Safety consultation and conducts medical surveillance. He also

conducts courses under FMM Institute’s Certificate in Safety & Health Officer.

Encik Mapis Md Jais has more 13 years’ experience in Environment, Health

and Safety in Multi-National Company (From Manufacturing personal to EHS &

Security Manager). He is holding a Master Science in Occupational Safety and

Health Management from University of Northern Malaysia (UUM) in collaboration

with NIOSH and a Bachelor Degree in Applied Science with Honors from

University Science Malaysia. During his years of working, he assisted a few MNC

companies to certify as ISO14001 & OHSAS 18001.Currently, he is now working

and appointed as Corporate HSE representative in one of MNC in Penang to

oversee EHS issues in Germany and Portugal. Previously he was a

Consultant for University/College on EHS matters, appointed as ‘Technical Expert’

for one of the government body on EMS & OHSMS, as well as an OHSAS18001

and ISO14001 Certification Auditor for two prominent Certification Body in

Malaysia

Speakers Biodata Dr. Dicky Ng is a DOSH-registered Occupational Health Doctor in Malaysia.

He currently heads the Wellness Centre of Penang Adventist Hospital. With a

special interest in chronic lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, cancer and

coronary health disease, he is actively involved in NGOs and has been

leading Penang Branch of Persatuan Diabetis Malaysia since 1999. He is also

currently a committee member of the Penang chapter of National Cancer

Society of Malaysia, and editorial board member of the Hospice Bulletin, a

quarterly newsletter of NCSM Penang branch.

DR Ramachandran Valautham holds a Doctorate in Occupational

Safety & Health (USA),Master of Science in Occupational Safety and Health

Management (UUM),Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Safety Management

(UKM),Bachelor of Science (E. Eng) (UK) and Advance Diploma in

Management Studies (ICM).He is a DOSH registered Safety & Health Officer.

He has 30 years of industrial experience and currently with B.Braun

Medical Industries Sdn Bhd as Division Head of EHSS . He has helped the

company to obtain several recognitions such as OHSAS 18001/ MS 1722,

MSOSH Gold Award Class 1 & Honourable mention for outstanding work in

Environment by Prime Minister for the CSR PM award. He is an International

Member of American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) fellow member

of the Malaysian Occupational Safety & Health Professional Association

(MOSHPA), and aCorporate member of National Institute of Occupational

Safety & Health (NIOSH).

Encik A’Azizan Mohamad is currently the Senior Environmental, Safety and

Health Manager from Infineon Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd. He holds a Master of

Science in Occupational Safety and Health Management (MOSH), University

Utara Malaysia (UUM). He is a registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO),

Lead Auditor certified by QACAS Pty Ltd, Trained Adult Basic Life Support &

AED by Hanniel Consulting (AHA Certified Trainer) . Encik A’azizan is currently

the trainer for (NIOSH) Safety and Health Officer program, Guests Lecturer for

University Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP) and Associate trainer, facilitator and

consultant on Occupational Safety & Health and Environment representing

various consultancy companies.

Speakers Biodata DR Ahmed Razman Abdul Latiff is a Director of Non-Thesis Program (MBA

& MM) and also in charge of Entrepreneurship in the Putra Business School. He

holds a Bachelor Degree of Accounting and Finance (Honours) from Lancaster

University, United Kingdom, a Master Degree of Accounting from Nanyang

Technological University, Singapore and a Master Research Degree in

Accounting and Financial Management from Lancaster University, United

Kingdom. He also holds a PhD in Corporate Governance from Liverpool John

Moores University, United Kingdom.Ahmed Razman has presented and

published numerous papers at various conferences and journals. He is one of

the editorial board of Asian Journal of Case Research and he is also the Vice

President of Case Writers’ Association of Malaysia. His current areas of

research interest include entrepreneurship, innovation, corporate governance,

ethics and human governance. He is also an IP Evaluation Panel for UPM,

which involves in identifying the potential commercialization of UPM

inventions. He is currently in the board of directors of a startup specializing in

technological products in healthcare.

Encik Mohd Aliasman Morshidi holds a Bachelor of Engineering

(Mechanical) from University of Queensland Australia and Executive Master in

Business Administration (eMBA) from Mara Technology University (UiTM), he is

specializing in HSE management in manufacturing and construction industries

for the past 16 years. He was certified as Safety & Health Officer and Radiation

Protection Officer. He is also currently a certified ISO9001:2008, ISO14001:2004

and OHSAS18001:2007 auditor, Traffic Management Officer (TMO), HRDF Train

The Trainer and NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational

Safety and Health. With his vast experience working in MNC in front end

electronic industry, he has been extensively involved and had acquired in-

depth hands-on various areas and aspects in hazardous materials (HAZMAT),

radiation and project management. He was sent for technology transfer and

training in Japan, chemical distribution system training in Arizona, U.S and also

facility set-up and radiation technology transfer in Austria. Currently, working

at Sapura Kencana Petroleum Berhad (SKPB) as HSE Counselor. He oversees

the HSE “soft” issues pertaining HSE Culture at the workplace. In the process

establishing HSE Culture framework and also assess, understand and measure

HSE Culture in the organization through survey, observation and interview all

level of employees. He also lead HSEMS certification process and received the

certification by December 2014.He involved actively in HSE training,

consultation, NGOs and also writing in OSH discipline.

Puan Norhazlina Mydin is a Member of Malaysia Industrial Hygiene

Association. She is currently the Principal Industrial Hygienist from

PETRONAS. Puan Norhazlina holds a Bachelor Degree in Chemical

Engineering from University of Adelaide, Australia and a Master of Science

in Occupational Hygiene from University of Aberdeen, Scotland Some of

her key experience among others are :

1. Conducted Health Risk Assessment in various business operations

(upstream, downstream, shipping, office)

2. Conducted numerous exposure monitoring (chemical, noise, radiation,

heat stress, vibration, IAQ)

3. Developed strategies for Industrial Hygiene company-wide

4. Trainers for numerous modules such as Safe Handling of Chemicals,

Hearing Conservation Program, HRA, Human Factors etc

5. Written numerous technical standards such as risk assessment, chemical

management,

6. Team leader for the development of Malaysia’s National Mercury

Management Guidelines in 2011

7. Team leader for Human Factors implementation in PETRONAS

DR Mohd Rafee Bin Baharuddin is currently the Senior Lecturer of Faculty

of Medicine and Health Science, University Putra Malaysia. He is also the

Director of OSH Department in UPM. He holds a Bachelor Degree of

Occupational Safety and Health, a Master Degree of in Environmental Science

and a PhD in Environmental Science (Environmeltal & Occupational Risk

Assessment ) from University Putra Malaysia.Dr Mohd Rafee has presented and

published numerous papers at various conferences and journals.

Associate Professor Abdul Shukor bin Abdullah,

(http://profshukor.blogspot.com), is a leading researcher, trainer, consultant

and speaker on occupational safety, health and environment (OSHE),

ergonomics and workplace safety in the country. He is a registered trainer

with NIOSH of Malaysia and has contributed in assisting over one thousands

Safety & Health Officers (SHOs) in obtaining their certification process with

NIOSH since 2004. Abdul Shukor is also an investigating officer for SOCSO of

Malaysia. For nearly 20 years, Abdul Shukor has conducted value-added

workshops, training sessions and consultancy projects respectively for

clients’ organisations such as Parker Hannifin (Aerospace), UMW

Corporations (M), UMW Toyota Motor, Volvo (Malaysia), Honda (M), Canon

Opto, Cargill Palm Products, On Semiconductor, NAZA, Petronas, ExxonMobil

(M) Sdn. Bhd., BHP (M), Media Prima, Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Sapura

Resources, PLUS, University of Malaya, BATC-UTM, Tenaga Nasional Berhad

(TNB), Telekom Malaysia (TM), Suzuki (M), DOSH, Malaysian Armed Forces,

Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). He is

also attached to various companies as associate trainer/speaker.Abdul

Shukor bin Abdullah is a graduate from the prestigious Royal Melbourne

Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia in 1988 with a degree in

Mechanical Engineering. He also attended postgraduate studies at

Loughborough University of Technology, England. He received the 2003

UNESCO ICEE Director’s Award in Australia for an outstanding researched

work in manufacturing engineering industry. He is a regular invited speaker

in various conferences at national and international levels respectively.
