OPTION 1: Traditional Schedule with Modifications

School will be in session, face-to-face, for all students, 5 days a week!

The following protocols will be in place to ensure student & staff

safety, academic excellence, and missional integrity:

Drop Off Procedure:

• All students dropped off before 7:45 a.m. will be dropped off at the

Commons.

• All staff and students will have contactless temperature checks upon

arrival on campus.

• Temperature checks between 7:45 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. will occur

outside the school at the downstairs elementary entrance and both

secondary entrances.

• Parents should make sure their child is cleared to enter school

before pulling away from the parking lot.

5

OPTION 1: Traditional Schedule with Modifications

The facilities and procedures have been modified to encourage

hygiene and increase the safety of our students and facilities.

Hand sanitizer stations will be in all classrooms

and strategically located around the building.

Bathrooms are being upgraded with touchless faucets and soap dispensers (Paper towel dispensers are already touchless).

Water fountains are being converted from traditional water fountains to bottle filling stations.

Temperature checks will occur daily for students and staff. Anyone with a temperature exceeding 99.5 will be asked to remain at home. Anyone with a temperature above 100 will not be allowed in the building. Other symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, and vomiting will result in a student/staff member being required to stay at home.

OPTION 1: Traditional Schedule with Modifications

Health and Safety Daily Routines and Improvements:

• Restroom visits for students will be spread out so that

there is minimal contact between classes.

• Lunches for ALL students will occur in their

classrooms. The hot lunch program will continue to be

an option for all students.

• Recess will be closely monitored to minimize student

contact, and multiple grades will not have recess together.

• All “touched” surfaces in classrooms will be sanitized

throughout the day by the teachers.

• Custodians will clean and sanitize the entire facility daily.

• Frequent hand washing will be encouraged in addition to the

new hand sanitizer stations.

• Regarding face coverings, students and staff will follow the state

leadership guidelines as they pertain to schools.

• Secondary classes will not change classrooms, but teachers will

rotate to students to limit hallway interaction.

OPTION 1: Traditional Schedule with Modifications

Field Trips

There will be no field trips during the first nine weeks of

school unless approved by the administration. Thereafter,

field trips will be minimal and may involve only parent

drivers and locations approved by the administration.

Visitors

Visitors to the school will be limited to the main office

entrance or to guided tours if necessary. Classroom

visitors, guest speakers, etc. will not be allowed unless

approved by the administration and only then after a

temperature check.

Assemblies/Chapels

Chapels are an integral part of the spiritual formation

program of Teays Valley Christian School. Chapels will

continue with modifications as needed. No other

assemblies will occur in the first 9 weeks of school.

COVID-19 Outbreak Plan

In the event of a positive case of COVID-19:

• If a confirmed case of COVID-19 occurs in a student or staff

member, the school will be shut down for two calendar days for

cleaning.

• The name of the individual who tests positive will not be made

public.

• That individual will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The student will continue classes via virtual instruction for the

quarantine period.

• If an outbreak occurs a shut-down of a longer duration may be

necessary.

In the event of a State of Emergency:

• If a state of emergency is once again declared and schools close,

then TVCS will have to close and go virtual as well.

• It is our prayer and hope that this does not occur, but we are

prepared for that contingency.

• This model is available for those families who are not yet

comfortable sending their child(ren) back to school full-time in the fall.

• Students can attend school part-time, following all the guidelines of

Model #1, and stay home part time, using the Google Classroom

platform through TVCS virtually.

• Details of this plan will vary greatly depending on the amount of time

at home or school, grade level, and home factors such as

internet access, proper device, and parental support. If this is an

option that you are interested in exploring, our planning team can

meet with you to custom design what works best for you.

Technology Upgrades

To better facilitate all learning options, technology upgrades

were essential for re-entry in the fall.

• All students grades 3 through 12 will now have a device to facilitate a

technologically enhanced learning experience, promote digital

literacy, and simplify the instructional transition to a virtual

environment should it become necessary.

• Technological infrastructure upgrades have been made to

accommodate the new device requirements throughout the school.
