Need of the Project
• Poor families living near coastal area & are engaged in fishery activities
• Some organizations are working there for the up-liftment of these families and providing services like schools, hospitals, drinking water, etc., but offered services are 4 kms. away from the project site.
• However, the major problem is electricity
• Their children can not study after the latter part of the day
• They face day to day problems, living without electricity
• 20% of their income incur on Petromax (a big portion out of little income)

Process of Need Identification
Why Wind Energy in Gujarat?
•Gujarat has become number one state of India in wind power generation
•Currently produces 1192 MW power from wind mills set up in coastal areas
•Has potential to produce 7000 to 8000 MW
•Project area is a coastal area and sufficient wind speed is there for the
power generation during major part of the year
•Solar panels are costlier than wind power and maintenance costs are very low
•During monsoon and winter there are cloudy days
•Will give output for long years
Methodology
Beneficiaries•1 wind mill set up for 10 house holds
•Each HH will have two lamp of 9 volt
•Technical expert will set up wind mill
•Piping, wiring & installation foundation will be set up by a skilled person
•Formation of SHGs to the beneficiaries
•LED circuit lamp will be prepared by the beneficiaries
Relevant Documents received from diff. Institutions
• 1 day x 12 = Rs. 12/- i.e. Rs. 12 x 30 days = Rs. 360/- for 1 house
• 10 houses x Rs. 360/- = Rs. 3,600/- for
• Per house hold they are being incurred Rs. 360/- per month on Petromax
• i.e. 360 x 10 (10 HH one group) Rs. 3,600/- per month & Rs. 43,200/- per year
• Considering one group costs of maintaining Petromax and cost of the windmill power generation, training, etc. is about 1,50,000 / 43,200 = 3.5 years approx
Breakeven Point
• Power generation capacity would be 400 watts.
• Aluminum pressure die cast body of wind mill.• Wings and Blades will be of carbon fiber,
which islow in weight and has high durability.
• Automatic switch off while fully battery is charged.
• Inbuilt battery charging control unit.• 12 volt 180 AMP. EXIDE battery – 24 months
warranty with high power storage capacity in itsclass.

Sustainability of the Project
• Organization will form self help groups (SHGs) of the
beneficiaries
• Will impart training on “How to effectively maintain wind
mill?” by the technical expert.
• Each beneficiary will contribute Rs. 100/- every month for
the maintenance.
• Two years of free service will be provided by the technical
expert .
EXPECTED OUTCOME
• Beneficiaries will save money about 20% of their monthly income
• Children can study at night also
• They can also work at night with more efficiently that will increase their income
• SHG formation of the beneficiaries will inspire the female member for any other income generating activities
• Will improve overall living standard
• Wind mill is a very environment friendly
• Wind mill generate power for long year so, sustain for long years
• Darkness can be removed for ever not only from their home but also from their life
