WHAT IS PROCESS ENGINEERING?
Making efforts for designing, drafting, purchase,
execution, assessment (for starting and maintaining )
improving commercial production of chemical
compounds considering safety, economic, legal
circumstances.
Process engineering is all the work involved from
designing to proper handover of project to client.
WHAT IS ROLE OF PROCESS ENGINEER?
Analyzing, understanding the chemical process then
designing, preparing documents and drawings for
execution, purchase, installation, testing, inspection,
commissioning purpose.
Process engineer is the one who can understand what
project requirement and able to do the activities in
designing, executing and commissioning.

PHASES OF PROJECT LIFE
Proposal Phase
Designing Phase
Execution phase
Commissioning Phase
PROPOSAL PHASE
Proposal state is very initial stage of project where client
takes out tender notice into market for there new plant or
plant expansion or technical services.
Then all the respective service providers(Vendors) will
propose their offers/Proposals to client, which will include
promised product purity and production rate, project
costing, project scheduling, scope of work, services charges
and conditions.
At client's end all the proposals from various vendor will be
checked and compared. They can provide comments on
proposals then vendor have to provide new revision of
proposal considering clients comments, and this goes on
until client accept the proposal totally and give vendor
approval or order of service.
DESIGNING PHASE
Conceptual design-
Thermodynamic Design in simulation packages like
Aspen+, ChemCAD, Hysys, etc.
Basic Engineering-
Mass and heat balance, utility requirement calculations,
Equipment design and sizing, line sizing, instrument
and control system design.
Detailing-
Preparation of PFD, PID, Equipment Datasheets,
specifications sheets for instrument and utilities, plant
and equipment layouts, piping isometrics and layouts,
pump datasheets.
EXECUTION PHASE
Transportation of material, Equipment, labor to the
site.
Civil foundations work, structure and support building
Equipment installations, piping and it’s supporting’ PLC installation, Electrical wiring and connections,
joining streams to rest part of plant.
COMMISSIONING PHASE
When plant installed complete with proper connections
of feed, product, utility, effluent lines to plant then
vender has to perform some batches or trail runs
which will give promised purity and production rate
with specific energy, material, labor, time
requirements
Once the plant is running in boundaries or within
limits as given by vender in his offer then plant can be
handover to client.
