Introduction to Culinary Arts1HistoryFounded as Future Homemakers of America in Chicago, 1945 to give men and women a chance to participate in a national student organization that promoted leaders in personal, family, and work environments.1965 FHA merged with New Homemakers of American1970 Economics was added to FHA through Home Economic Related Occupations (HERO)1999 Future Homemakers of America became Family, Career Community Leaders of America, in addition it adopted its new logo and colors

FCCLA has been giving students a chance to build leadership and professional skills since 1945. Orginally called the Future Home Makers of America, the FCCLA Name was not adopted till 1999.2CreedWe are the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.We face the future with warm courage And high hope.For we have the clear consciousness of seeking Old and precious values,For we are the builders of homes,Homes for Americas future,Homes where living will be the expression of everythingThat is good and fair,Homes where truth and love and security and faith Will be realities, not dreams.We are the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.We face the future with warm courageAnd high hope.

3MissionMotto:To promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through:character developmentcreative and critical thinkinginterpersonal communicationpractical knowledgecareer preparationToward New Horizons

The mission is what FCCLA works for daily to achieve and promotes 5 different developments: character, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge and career preparation. The Motto is Toward New Horizons

4PurposeTo provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life.To strengthen the function of the family as the basic unit of society.To encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and community.To encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony.To promote greater understanding between youth and adults.To provide opportunities for making decision and for assuming responsibilities.To provide for the multiple roles of men and women in today's society.To promote family and consumer sciences, family and consumer sciences careers and related occupations.

The official dress code of FCCLA should be wore at all FCCLA Conferences, competitions and functions. Officers will have separate uniforms shown in the next slide. All student dress though embraces FCCLA colors of red and white with the addition of black although it is not an official FCCLA color. 6Official Dress ExamplesOfficer Uniform
