How we define Test Bed

Today challenge for Nordic Test Beds
Test beds have been slow to identify business opportunities Few test beds have a balanced budget allowing them to provide testing and verification for companies There is a general lack of financial incentives for hospitals or physicians participating in test bed studies. Test beds are a necessary yet invisible part of the value chain in the Nordic healthcare ecosystem Lack of communication between Nordic Test Beds results in an inadequate knowledge of test bed activities beyond national borders.
What we aim for
1. Establish an infrastructure for Collaboration 2. Secure a sustainable business model for the Test Beds 3. Align professional clinical and administrative
procedures between the test beds in the network 4. Establish and make visible a marketable brand for
Nordic Test beds
Output: create an single point of contact for professional testing and introduction of new innovations into the Nordic hospital sector
Barriers for implementation of innovation
• The innovation is “development oriented” – not “user driven”• Lack of risk assessment and cost/benefit calculations.• The innovation is not part of an procurement processes.• Small companies experience substantial challenges when dealing with
big institutions. (E.g. contracts, capacity, financial strength and cultural differences)
• Projects fail to take into account the issues of integration, implementation and operational challenges.
• High impact projects have failes due to silo thinking within the health organization.
• Idealists are in charge of the project, and tend to fail during the anchoring phase.
• The commercialization potential of new ideas receives limited focus within the public sector
