• POETRY IS AN IMAGINITIVE AWARENESS OF EXPERIENCE EXPRESSED THROUGH MEANING, SOUND, RYHTMIC LANGUAGE CHOICES SO AS TO EVOKE AN EMOTIONAL RESPONSE TO THE READER.

• THE ELEMENTS OF POETRY CAN BE DEFINED AS A SET OF INSTRUMENTS USED TO CREATE A POEM AND HAVE BEEN LINKED TO ANCIENT STORY TELLING.

• THEY HELP BRING IMAGERY AND EMOTION TO POETRY, STORIES, AND DRAMAS.

• SIMILAR TO A PARAGRAPH IN A STORY OR COMPREHENSION TEXT.

•Descriptions that one can almost “picture” or visualize in one’s head while reading a poem.

•Descriptions of sound that the reader can almost “hear” while reading a poem.

• This refers to the images of smell.

• Descriptions of smell seem to come alive and the reader can almost “smell” the image created in the poem while reading.
