Instead of just writing about problems using a serious tone, writers find ways to get readers to laugh at problems of the world. They use humor. These writers are so skilled at what they do that they use a special knack to attack. They want us to understand that something in the world needs change.

What is Satire

Satire is a form of literary humor that authors us to make fun of society. Satire reminds readers that there are certain injustices that should never be forgotten and more importantly should be changed.

Satirical Techniques• Exaggeration: to enlarge or increase something beyond its

natural bounds. (Caricatures/cartoons exaggerate physical features)

• Incongruity: To present things that are out of place or are absurd in relation to its surroundings. Particular techniques include oxymoron, metaphor, and irony.

• Parody: To imitate the techniques and/or style of some person, place, or thing in order to ridicule the original.

• Sarcasm: Sarcasm is a sharp or cutting statement like a taunt or jibe, meant to really drive a point home. It can be meant to give pain and can include irony. On the other hand, sometimes you can make a point and still be funny
