The Birth of Kinesiology Tape

• Japanese Chiropractor & Acupuncturist
• Early 1970’s: Devised a method to “send his hands home” with his paDents to prolong the benefits of his work
• Developed an elasDc tape similar to the thickness of the skin that provided support but didn’t inhibit movement
• Hypothesized that he could use the tape to liK the skin and target different sensory receptors
