Module choices

• You must have 100 credits at each level to gain an honours degree

• You must have 80 credits at level 5 to gain a Masters degree

• There are disadvantages in choosing credits from the level below, so we strongly advise you not to take Level 2 modules, unless they fit best with your portfolio of courses.

• Special skills modules are not double weighted for degree classification.

• You should confirm your module choice online by the end of October.

Petroleum Track

• If you are on the Petroleum Track you MUST go and see Luisa to check that your module choices are compatible.

• If you are interested in the Petroleum Track, check the website then go and see Luisa.

• GP students taking petroleum-related courses should take 3060, 3500 and 2085 (if not taken previously).

What is different?

Level 3 is not like Level 2• You work harder• You work to a higher level

• The most common mistake is to work a lot harder than last year but fail to step up an academic level

• Have a look at the details on the web site for your programme of study

Year 3 - View timetable[Learning Outcomes, Transferable (Key) Skills, Assessment, Learning Context]

Assessment

There are penalties for late submission: 5% per day.

Stating the obvious:

• Late work (and failure to submit course work) can equate to failed modules.

• This will impact on your degree classification.

Degree Classification 1

You need to pass 100 credits at Levels 1, 2 and 3 to gain an honours degree.

Some modules are PFP. YOU NEED TO CHECK!

What happens if you fail a module that you need for your degree?

You have to re-sit next year (not in the summer).

Degree Classification 2

How do we work out what degree you get?

If your Year 3 marks are better than your Year 2 marks:

Final mark = 2/3 of your yr 3 mark + 1/3 of your yr 2 mark

If your Year 2 marks are better than your Year 3 marks:

Final mark = ½ of your yr 3 mark + ½ of your yr 2 mark
