1520MUSIC FESTIVAL
The main purpose of Intsikurmu Music Festival is to promote intellectual and cultural ways to spend leisure time. Our intention is to contribute to the consumption of quality music among Estonians as well as among closer neighbouring countries. We support Estonian musicians and introduce foreign artists to Estonian audience. We hold and cherish Estonian culture, history, nature and environment and with this festival we give modern dimensions to Estonian song tradition.
Intsikurmu Music Festival represents three different styles of contemporary music: contemporary jazz and art-music, turntable and DJ-culture and pop-indie-stadium music. The aim of the festival is to widen the horizons of music lovers, as well as borders of culture where classical music lovers would appreciate the representatives of street culture and vice versa.
Clean nature, good music, awesome people, quality food and beverages, aesthetically enjoyable festival grounds, special solutions in different venues – this is the largest festival of good music in Estonia, the Intsikurmu Music Festival.

The versatile music program of Intsikurmu crawls into every cell of your body and makes you praise the beauty of life, indeed! Peaceful chill-out in picturesque Põlva festival arena coppice honestly reminds Positivus, the most popular Latvian festival. Both by atmosphere and the choice of music.
DELFI AUGUST 2, 2014
Due to its idyllic nature, the Intsikurmu Music Festival from past weekend gave an idea, that in actuality, organizing an enjoyable festival is no longer a rocket science, because all bicycles have been invented and have proved themselves. One just needs to follow the basics that the event would leave a pleasant aftertaste even to the demanding festival guest.
EPL AUGUST 4, 2014
First and foremost, Intsikurmu is a place. Everything else comes after that or on the basis of this. It is not the first time that Parkmetsa in the south side of Põlva town has been a gathering place for dignifying energies or even Taara's (Estonia's indigenous religion) oak grounds.
In 1855, it was the place where first time in the history, joint singing of several Estonian choirs took place. The name of this place is even magic to the people from Soviet times, who associate it with student camp reunions, sporting events and kvass barrels. The Intsikurmu Music Festival that took place the second time this year, was not so much of a ritual but a hipster hedonism. In recreating old vibes,a more neutral, and even more honest environment was set up. Forest festival, indeed. First and foremost. In the future, in addition to pricey beer and snack stands, there could be couple high grade sativa and magic mushroom stands.
It's specifically the ethereal unpretentious feeling of the event that makes being there so cozy. Festival is based on duality. The program divided in two days, presented to viewer in two venues; one live performance does not intrude the other, but leaves some time to turn your face and ears, shift back and forth with hourly interval, go through the food and hay bale packed center of two venues, as a plateu where one can enjoy beautiful views to the both sides.
MÜÜRILEHT, AUGUST 2014
“PÕLVA FOREST FESTIVAL INTSIKURMU 2014 IS THE POSITIVUS OF ESTONIA: LOTS OF
BEAUTIFUL AND MERRY PEOPLE”
kurmu.com
Intsikurmu Music Festival was born from the New Age Festival (NAF) that took place in Põlva in 2010-2012. Over the course of five years, The New Age Festival and Intsikurmu festival have had a total of 10,000 participants and more than 100 artists performing there. NAF was the largest contemporary music festival taking place in South Estonia. The management experience and international network led the way to the suitable basis to implement Intsikurmu festival.
First Intsikurmu festival took place in the beginning of August, 2013, in Intsikurmu forest park. Second festival that was named Estonian Positivus by Estonian press, took place in August, 2014. Intsikurmu festival invites people to return to the heart of the forest, to find ourselves and also our ancestry through music. The festival grounds under the sky tall trees with unbelievably aboriginal and strong energy offers aesthetical beauty to ones eye. The extensive music program exudes warmth and heals amongst the overall noise. Intsikurmu festival is described by video installations, great performers and music with depth, carried by the spirits of great men such as Jakob Hurt and Jaan Vahtra.
Intsikurmu festival gives a new dimension and breathing to the location of long traditions, but not only - big role is played also by people around us. Festival rests on three main branches: organizers, audience and performers, who, during the festival in the forest park, form a jointly breathing unity. The purpose of the music festival is to intensify the love for culture, inspire creative endeavors amongst youth, to convey caring, and values to notice one another. Intsikurmu Music Festival is a musical opinion festival where people with different values and from different walks of life find inspiration for new creative and society advancing undertakings.

The poster design of Intsikurmu Music Festival 2015 features the art of Ernst Heinrich Philipp August Haeckeli (1834-1919). Haeckel was a German biologist, philosopher, physicist, professor and an artist who discovered, described, illustrated and named thousands of plant and animal species. Haeckel was influenced by the ideas of Charles Darwin and popularized Darwin`s scien-tific work. His published work features more than 100 colored illustrations and lots of detailed scientific research work. Haeckel`s colorful and uniquely enhanced image of hummingbirds conveys well the mood of the festival - a lot of nice people, sounds and experiences in beautiful nature. The main objective of the design is to create a pleasant emotion in the viewer, which
corresponds to the content of the festival.
