PUBLIC & PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS 48 BUSINESS PRESENTATIONS www.intsok.com INTSOK Promoting Norwegian Oil and Gas Capabilities in International Market INTSOK was established in 1997 as an independent non-profit foundation to strengthen the long-term basis for value creation and employment in the Norwegian oil and gas industry through expanding the industry’s inter- national business activities. The objective is to promote the Norwegian oil and gas industry’s leading edge experience, technology and expertise to key clients in international markets and provide market information to its partners. In 2009, Norway was the world’s third largest oil and gas exporter. The petroleum sector is vital for the country’s economy, representing 25 percent of the gross domestic product, more than 50 percent of export earnings and providing some 250.000 jobs, directly and indirectly. Active Government support INTSOK is a network-based organisation where the partners exchange experience and knowledge of market develop- ments internationally. The organisation encourages active dialogue between oil companies, technology suppliers, service companies and governments. The Norwegian Government actively supports INTSOK’s initiatives, and the activities are financed jointly by the industry and the government. The founders are: NORWEGIAN GOVERNMENT: – Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Ministry of Petroleum and Energy – Ministry of Trade and Industry Growing number of partners Norwegian oil and gas firms have made substantial moves to win business in international markets. And they have succeeded in growing their international business considerably in recent years. The increased focus on international markets has resulted in more partners joining INTSOK.
