RAILROAD

Main transit railway lines of international

significance cross in Jēkabpils. These lines

connect Jēkabpils with Riga, Jelgava, Rēzekne and

Daugavpils in Latvia. Railway station “Krustpils” on

these key lines is a significant transport hub, which

processes freights and diverts the transport flows

to the right destinations.

Railway lines Rīga-Daugavpils and Rīga-Rēzekne-

Zilupe, which are going through Jēkabpils, are part

of the European Transport Network (TEN-T).

Railroad station “Krustpils” in Jēkabpils accounts for

more than 90 % of the total railway transport in Latvia.

Jēkabpils is crossed by the national significance road

Rīga-Daugavpils (A6) leading to the Belorussian

border. Near Jēkabpils a new twig thereof goes

direction Rēzekne-Zilupe (A12) leading to the

Russian border.

Network (TEN-T).

decrease during 2012.

The largest decrease in the number of unemployed is

observed during summer, which is due to the

DEVELOPMENT IN 2008 – 2013

Since 2008 there are 35 projects implemented (already

completed and not yet completed), which have raised

more than LVL 53 million (75,6 mio. EUR) in

the investment of Jēkabpils from municipal,

governmental budget and EU and other external funds.

Raised EU funds per 1 inhabitant in Jēkabpils

amount to LVL 1562 (2230 EUR), which is the

second best figure in Zemgale Region.
