2017 meeting facultyScott Mansfield B. Physio MBBS FRACGSDr Scott Mansfield has a longstanding connection with the Darling Downs, having grown up in Injune and attended school in Toowoomba.Whilst working as a physiotherapist in rural Queensland, Dr Mansfield decided to pursue his long held dream of studying medicine. Dr Mansfield completed his MBBS at the University of Queensland, graduating with first class honours in 2006. He then became a Fellow of The Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2014 and has now completed a two year Colorectal Fellowship in Adelaide and Sydney with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery. Dr Mansfield works as a VMO colorectal surgeon at Toowoomba Hospital with rooms at St Andrew’s Hospital.

Heather Curley BMedSci MBBS FRACPDr Heather Curley is a general physician at the Toowoomba Hospital. Dr Curley graduated from the University of Queensland in 2007, and completed her advanced training in General Medicine in 2016. Dr Curley’s areas of interest include perioperative medicine and education.

Robyn Nagel MBBS FRACP PhDDr Robyn Nagel graduated from Melbourne University in 1977, completed specialist registration at the Austin/Repatriation hospitals, Melbourne before travelling to the United Kingdom for five years of postgraduate experience. She commenced private/public clinical gastroenterology practice in Toowoomba in 1992 and has conducted weekly medical student tutorials since that time. She has served on local, state and national education/professional committees in the past, is a member of the St Vincent’s Medical Advisory Committee and is current chairperson of the Toowoomba Private Endoscopy Craft Group. She completed her PhD with UQ in 2016 “Blastocystis species-are they clinically relevant in humans?” and has many clinical interests including capsule endoscopy.

Margaret Kay MBBS FRACGPDr Margaret Kay is a part-time general practitioner and Medical Director of Qld Doctors’ Health Programme. She graduated with Honors in Medicine in 1983 from the University of Queensland, is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds an academic title as Senior Lecturer with UQ. Her PhD in Physician Health focussed on understanding how doctors access health care for themselves. She is a member of the Expert Advisory Council for Doctors Health Services Ltd and the Australasian Doctors’ Health Network. She has over 20 peer-reviewed publications, many in the area of doctors’ health. She also has clinical and research interests in refugee health.

Leanne Browning MBBS FRACPDr Leanne Browning, from Little Sprouts Paediatrics, completed her medical degree at the University of Queensland in 1993 and completed her paediatric training at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Toowoomba Hospital. Dr Browning was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as a paediatrician in 2003. She has spent the last 13 years providing care in regional, rural and remote communities of Toowoomba, Charleville, Quilpie, Cunnamulla and Goondiwindi. Dr Browning’s areas of interest include acute and chronic care general paediatrics and child health, neonatology and developmental and behavioural paediatrics. She currently works as a Director of Rural Generalist Training with the Queensland Rural Generalist Pathway. She also continues to provide paediatric clinics to Goondiwindi and surrounds.

Shailja Singh MBBS (Fiji) AMC FRACPDr Shailja Singh, from Little Sprouts Paediatrics, is a Queensland trained paediatrician. and has worked at Toowoomba Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital Brisbane, Rockhampton Hospital and Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital. She has extensive paediatric knowledge and skills to treat patients from a developing country (Fiji), as well as from rural and metropolitan Australia.She obtained FRACP in General Paediatrics and Child Health and Master in Public Health and Tropical Medicine (MPHTM), in 2016.Dr Singh’s areas of interest include all areas of general paediatrics and child health; neonatal and paediatric acute care and developmental paediatrics. She currently works at the Toowoomba Hospital publicly and at Little Sprouts Paediatrics. She has a special interest in tropical medicine and refugee health.

Lanziz Homar MD (Madagascar) AMC FRANZCOGDr Lanziz Homar was born and raised in Madagascar where he also completed his medical degree.He migrated to Australia 14 years ago and later started his obstetrics and gynaecology training through the Canberra Hospital. He underwent a further two years of training in advanced gynaecological laparoscopic surgery and urogynaecology at the Gold Coast Hospital. He moved to Toowoomba after completing his training and started in private practice.He is currently a private obstetrician, gynaecologist and fertility specialist. He consults at the Medici Medical Centre Toowoomba and operates in three different hospitals: St Andrews, St Vincents and Surgicentre. Dr Homar shares rooms with Dr Cerqui at The Medici Centre. He has a special interest in complex laparoscopy surgery including treatment of endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts and laparoscopic hysterectomy. He also offers infertility treatment including IVF in Toowoomba. Dr Homar recently obtained his Masters of Reproductive Medicine through UNSW. He is heavily involved in charity work, organising to send medical equipment to needy hospitals in Madagascar. He travels there regularly to provide free surgeries to disadvantaged women.
