Dear Principal,
Techno Geeks, the Computer Club and TAFS Mathematics Club of
The Air Force School, Subroto Park, are organizing the TAFS TechFest’2014 -
An Inter-School IT and Mathematics Symposium, on 22nd August 2014.
On behalf of TAFS, I invite your revered school to participate and contribute in
making our event successful.
Your school is required to register through the Registration Form enclosed or
through our Techno Geeks website (www.tafstg.com) latest by 14th August
2014. The Rules and Regulations, Schedule and other details are enclosed.

List of Events
1. RobotiX-
a. Date - 22nd August’14
b. Time - 9:15A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
c. Participants - A Team of 2 members
d. Venue - Outside Aravali Hall
e. Eligibility - IX-XII
f. Theme - Participants are to bring a Remote Controlled robot (wired/wireless) to
move around through a circular maze which is capable of crossing obstacles while
carrying/rolling ping-pong balls spread around the arena. The team which crosses the maze in
the shortest time duration shall win.
Rules-
i. Kits are not allowed.
ii. Max. Voltage supply 12V.
iii. Max. dimensions- 30cm * 30cm * 30cm
iv. Max. Weight 2 kg.
v. Maneuvering of the robot manually or using wires will lead to deduction of points.
vi. In case of a tie, Robo-Wars shall take place.
vii. Points shall be deducted if any restriction/s is/are crossed.
2. Flash It!!-
a. Date - 22nd August’14
b. Time - 9:15A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
c. Participant - 1
d. Venue - Aravali Hall
e. Eligibility - OPEN
f. Theme - Participant will be given the theme on the spot and the time limit within
which they need to submit a photograph. Further information contact at
Rules-
i. A total of 3 topics will be given on the participants, from which he/she may select one of
the topics.
ii. Participants are required to bring their own gear (Camera, lenses, laptop etc.).
iii. No extreme editing is allowed, though mild image processing can be done.
iv. Use of internet is strictly not allowed. If caught, the participant will be DISQULAIFIED.
v. Each participant will get 90 minutes for both shooting and editing. Any pictures after 90
minutes won’t be entertained.
3. Total LANage.–
a. Date - 22nd August’14

d. Venue - Senior Computer Lab
e. Eligibility - OPEN
f. Theme - One P.C. gamer and one console gamer will cope up through different
levels. Three rounds will be conducted:
i. Round 1- 8 participants will qualify.
ii. Round 2- 2 participants will qualify.
iii. Round 3- FINALS. “Survival of the fastest!”
4. Synchronize-
a. Date - 15th – 18th August’14
b. Participant - A Team of ‘n’ number of participants.
c. Venue - ONLINE
d. Eligibility - OPEN
e. Theme - Participants will be given the topic for A/V Editing 6 days before event.
Participants to upload the video on You-Tube privately 3 days before the event and email the
link. Video must be of less than 1 minute 29 seconds. Winners will be announced on 21st
August’14.
5. Code-a-Thon -
a. Date - 22nd August’14
b. Time - 9:15A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
c. Participant - 1
d. Venue - Junior Computer Lab
e. Eligibility - XI-XII
f. Theme - First round will be a written round of 30 minutes.
Followed by practical round for the top 10 teams. Compiler provided will be Turbo C++ 3.0,
Turbo C++ 4.5.
6. Cipher -
a. Date - 16th– 18th August’14
b. Participant - ∞
c. Venue - ONLINE
d. Eligibility - OPEN
e. Theme - Participants are to solve a cryptic hunt given online on our website
through any means. Beg, Borrow, Steal or SOLVE! Person with highest level in minimum time
wins! Winners will be announced on 21st August’14.
7. Jeu-Concours(Senior)-
a. Date - 22nd August’14
b. Time - 9:15A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
c. Participant - A Team of 2 members
d. Venue - Library/Aravili Hall
e. Eligibility - IX-XII
f. Theme - An unexpected quiz based on Computer Science & Technology, I.Q. and
Mathematics. Six teams shall be selected for the final round on the basis of a written
preliminary round. Written round will consist of 30 questions, 10 of each category.
8. Jeu-Concours(Junior)-
a. Date - 22nd August’14
b. Time - 9:15A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
c. Participant - A Team of 2 members
d. Venue - Activity Hall
e. Eligibility - VI-VIII
f. Theme - An astonishing quiz based on Mathematics. Six teams shall be selected
for the final round on the basis of a written preliminary round.
9. Conceptualize-
a. Date - 22nd August’14
b. Time - 9:15A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
c. Participant - A Team of 2 members
d. Venue - Physics Lab
e. Eligibility - IX-X
f. Theme - Participants are required to prepare a model on the given theme-
“Combinatorics”. Participants will bring material and will be given time to make the model and
further present in front of the judges.
10. Le Colloque-
a. Date - 22nd August’14
b. Participant - Team of 2.
c. Venue - A.V. Room
d. Eligibility - XI-XII
e. Theme - Participants are required to prepare and present a presentation on one of
the following topics-
i. How will mathematics evolve after the introduction of Quantum Computing.
ii. The mathematics of NSA Surveillance.
Rules-
i. Each team can choose any one of the topics given.
ii. Each team will be given a maximum time of 3 minutes and an additional time
of 59 seconds to compile up.
iii. The speaker will put forward his/her views in the form of an Ms-Office
presentation (2007).
iv. Any types of short movie/video or Flash are strictly not allowed.
v. Notes and writing material may be used but it is preferable not to read from
them while speaking.
