The Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. proudly confirms Hufglocken as our major sponsor for the 2019 Grand National Saddle Horse & Rider Championships, widely recognised as Australia's premier hack & riding event.

Exhibitors & competitors who gained a qualifying performance in 2018 as per the schedule & qualifier list below, are invited to enter the relevant class/classes for the 2019 Hufglocken Grand National Saddle Horse & Rider Championships. Please Note: All Horses must be registered with the SHCA Inc National Saddle Horse Register, and all exhibitors, owners/responsible officers/riders must be members of an affiliate or constituent affiliate of the Show Hose Council of Australasia Inc.

The Show Schedule is available on the Events page of the SHCA Inc website www.showhorsecouncilaust.com.au All entries are to be completed via the SHCA Inc database show module. Classes are listed in the schedule on the day and in the order that they will be held. An official timetable of events will be circulated at least two (2) weeks prior to the event.

1. GENERAL

1.1. The Event shall be run in accordance with the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. (SHCA) Competition Rules & General Rules in force from time to time & Rules applicable to the “Grand National Championships”. SHCA Competition Rules are available at www.showhorsecouncilaust.com.au or can be viewed at the Show Office on the days of the show.

1.2. The Grand National Committee reserves the right itself to interpret all questions and conditions and shall make any relevant decisions in regard to, or arising from, any incident at or pertaining to this show, without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. The Grand National Committee will decide any questions not covered in the Rules & Conditions of entry, their decision will be final.

1.3. Entry & competition in this event is voluntary. By entry all participants agree to be bound by the decisions of the Grand National Committee &/or the Council.

1.4. Entry to this event shall constitute an agreement & affirmation by the Exhibitor/ Owner/ Responsible Officer (which includes Lessee/Manager/Rider/Handler) to compete subject to & in accordance with the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. Competition Rules, General Rules & Rules applicable to this event & affirms the entrant is eligible to compete.

1.5. Entry to this event shall be by Invitation to those eligible under the entry criteria as set out by the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. in this Schedule. Entry fees apply.

1.6. Entries will only be accepted from entrants who have gained the required performance criteria as set by the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc.

1.7. The Committee reserves the right to refuse or withdraw any entry/entries from this competition without having to assign a reason.

1.8. In this competition and in all Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc Rules the term "horse" refers to a saddle horse, galloway or pony.

1.9. The Show Office will be located adjacent to the Stable Warden Office in the undercover area opposite the mess hall on Sunday & Monday prior to the Grand National event formally commencing. As soon as Grand Nationals begins, the Show Office will be located at the Main Arena and available from 07:00am – 06:00pm.

2. ENTRIES

2.1. If an exhibit is qualified for both Open and Show Hunter sections, the exhibitor must choose between entry in the relevant Open Saddle class or Show Hunter class. No exhibit can be shown in both the Open and Show Hunter classes.

2.2. All information supplied by the Exhibitor &/or Owner &/or Responsible Officer (i.e. the person in charge of the horse) shall be true & correct and represent that the horse/rider is eligible to compete. If this information is found to be false, the exhibit will be disqualified and the Responsible Officer &/or the Owner of the entry be subject to disciplinary action by the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc.

2.3. Where a horse is registered &/or entered in the name of a minor (under 18 years) the Responsible Officer shall be a parent, guardian or other nominated person who will then be considered the Responsible Officer. All nominated Responsible Officers must be current members of an Affiliate/Constituent Affiliate of SHCA and be aged 18 years or over.

2.4. Horse entries shall only be accepted where the entry has been submitted by the Registered Owner.

2.5. If the owner of the horse is nominated as in charge of the horse during the competition, then the owner shall be required to be nominated as the Responsible Officer, unless the registered owner of the horse is a minor (under 18 years) in which case the provisions of clause 11 of these rules applies.

2.6. If a person other than the owner is nominated to oversee the horse during the competition, then that person shall be required to be nominated on the entry form as the Responsible Officer.

2.7. In the event of disciplinary action, the person/s considered responsible shall be deemed as the Exhibitor/Owner &/or the Responsible Officer &/or the person in charge of the horse at the time of the offence.

2.8. A Saddle Horse will be over 15hh, a Galloway will be over 14hh & not exceeding 15hh, a Pony will be not exceeding 14hh.

2.9. All horses entered or used in any event at this competition including rider events shall be registered with the National Saddle Horse Register (administered by the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc.)

2.10. The Registration shall be in the name of the owner as shown on the entry or entries will not be accepted.

2.11. All Owners/Exhibitors/Competitors & Responsible Officers shall be current Members of an Affiliate or Constituent Affiliate of the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc.

2.12. Riders in riding classes shall compete in the age group for which the rider is eligible at first day of the competition.

2.13. The same horse cannot be ridden by two riders in the same Rider Section.

2.14. In the case of a rider aged six years & under nine years entered in a rider class, the mount shall not exceed 14hh.

2.15. In the case of a rider aged nine years & under twelve years entered in a rider class, the mount shall not exceed 15hh.

2.16. In riding classes under 17 years safety helmets & jodhpurs boots are compulsory, optional – cane/crop, spurs.

2.17. Entries must be completed via the SHCA Inc Show Module and all associated fees must be paid in full by the closing date of entries ie 13 January 2019.

2.18. A handling fee of $30 will be applied to any entries not in order as per Rules & Check List. These entries are to be brought into order within ten (10) days of notification accompanied by the fee. No incomplete or late entries will be accepted.

2.19. Entry Fees are non-refundable after closing date of entries.

2.20. All exhibitor withdrawals must be notified in writing via email to the Show Horse Council Office: [email protected]

2.21. Prior to the show, a change of rider for a horse exhibit or, change of mount for a Rider Class, is to be notified to the Show Horse Council Office as soon as possible. IMPORTANT: If such change is required during the Show, notification is to be lodged at the Show Office.

2.22. The Organising Committee &/or the Show Horse Council Of Australasia Inc. &/or the Ground Jury reserves the right to alter the Program, Judges, Schedule or Timetable.

3. PRIZE MONEY

3.1. The 2019 Hufglocken Grand Nationals prize money will be as follows:

3.1.1. Saddle Classes: Champion $600; Reserve Champion $400, Third Place $250, Fourth Place $100, Fifth Place $100

3.1.2. Rider Classes: Champion $300, Reserve Champion $200, Third Place $100, Fourth Place $50, Fifth Place $50

3.1.3. Child’s Classes: Champion $150, Reserve Champion $50, Third Place $25, Fourth Place $25, Fifth Place $25

3.2. For Show Hunter classes C6, C8, 11, 14, 18 & 20, the Australian Stock Horse Society has proudly sponsored additional prize money if the horse is registered with the Australian Stock Horse Society and the owners are current financial members of the Australian Stock Horse Society.

3.2.1. Additional prize money will be as follows: Champion $1,000 and Reserve Champion $500.

3.2.2. Eligible entries must submit an intention to compete via email to the ASHS office [email protected] prior to February 28, 2019.

3.3. Upon confirmation of results all prize money will be paid by direct deposit to nominated account.

4. QUALIFICATIONS

4.1. Providing that the Show Society concerned has agreed and complied with the provisions of Section 12A of the SHCA Competition Rules in respect to Grand National Qualifier Shows, a qualifying performance considered for entry of horses in horse events shall be:

4.1.1. Champion or Reserve in Open & Show Hunter - Pony, Galloway/Light Hack or Hack at a 2018 Royal Show or other Competition approved &/or recognized by the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc.

4.1.2. "Horse of The Year" Champion & Reserve Champion in Open & Show Hunter Pony, Galloway or Hack from Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc affiliated 2018 Horse of The Year Shows and Grand National Qualifiers.

4.1.3. The 2018 "Grand National" Champion & Reserve Champion in Open & Show Hunter Ponies, Galloways & Hacks.

4.1.4. Leading Rein Champion & Reserve Champion from 2018 Royal Show, SHCA Affiliated Competitions or other as approved &/or recognized by the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. When a Leading Rein event does not award a Champion & Reserve Champion the 1ST place Winner is considered the Champion and 2nd place is considered the Reserve Champion. Restricted to Ponies n/e 12hh with Rider aged 3 years & under 8 years (age at date of Grand National).

4.1.5. No Performance is required for ‘Class TT’, restricted rider aged 3 years & under 6 years (age at date of Grand National). Mounts are to be n/e 14hh and must be entered in Saddle Pony/Show Hunter Children’s or Open sections, including First Ridden, Lead Rein or Shetland Pony classes at the 2019 Grand National. No Entry fee will be charged, Riders and Handlers must be active members of an Affiliate or Constituent Affiliate of SHCA. Handlers must be 18 years of age or over.

4.2. Providing that the Show Society concerned has agreed and complied with the provisions of Section 12A of the SHCA Competition Rules in respect to Grand National Qualifier Shows, a qualifying Performance considered for Entry in Rider cshall be:

4.2.1. Champion & Reserve Rider at a 2018 Royal Show or other Competition approved &/or recognised by the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc.

4.2.2. "Rider of The Year" Champion & Reserve Champion from Rider classes held at Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc affiliated 2018 Horse of the Year Shows and Grand National Qualifiers.

4.2.3. 2018 "Grand National" Rider Champion & Reserve Champion

4.3. Qualifying performance for Childs Classes shall be:

4.3.1. 1st place winner from Childs Class (Saddle Horse, Show Hunter).

4.3.2. 1st place winner from First Ridden or Ridden Shetland at a 2018 Royal Show, 2018 SHCA Horse of the Year Show or other 2018 SHCA GN Qualifier Show.

4.3.3. Champion & Reserve Champion from Childs Class (Saddle, Show Hunter) or Shetland) at the 2018 Grand National.

5. MEASURING

5.1. All Horses shall compete in the height class for which they are eligible at the time of the competition.

5.2. In accordance with SHCA Measuring Rules, only current (Provisional, Annual or Life) Official Measuring Cards/Certificates as issued by The Show Horse Council of Australasia or its Constituent Affiliates, shall be recognized & accepted.

5.3. Horses not in possession of a current SHCA Measuring Card/Certificate meeting this criterion are required to be presented for Measurement at the Show.

5.4. The Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. reserves the right to measure any horse. If any discrepancy in height occurs the horse will be transferred to the appropriate class.

6. MARSHALLING & WORK OUTS

6.1. All horses must be exhibited under saddle except where directed by the Judge or Steward.

6.2. Breast plate numbers corresponding to the Catalogue shall be worn in Horse and Rider classes, to be displayed in a breast plate holder to be worn on the horse.

6.3. The marshalling area is strictly controlled by the assigned marshal or marshals.

6.4. Headsets or other communication devices are not permitted within the marshalling area.

6.5. Competitors must present in the marshalling area in accordance with the SHCA Rules and Regulations.

6.6. The marshalling area is restricted to competitors only. A non-competitor may enter the marshalling area only upon the expressed approval of a marshal.

6.7. Entries to be presented to the marshalling stewards fifteen (15) minutes prior to scheduled time of the class.

6.8. Where an exhibitor has more than one entry in the same horse class a change of rider between these entries may be made during the class providing the exhibitor has advised the Ringmaster of the change prior to the starting time of the class.

6.9. All entries will work on the ring prior to their individual workout. In the case of heats, there may be a later call up for some entries; this will be decided when the numbers are finalised & will be displayed & procedures advised to competitors.

6.10. Saddle Horse Classes – set workouts: due to time constraints, no halt is to be done at completion of workout.

6.11. Show Hunter Classes – set workouts: due to time constraints, no halt is to be done at completion of workout.

6.12. Children classes for both Saddle Horse & Show Hunters – set workouts: due to time constraints, no halt is to be done at the completion of workout.

6.13. Rider Classes - set workouts: due to time constraints, no halt is to be done at completion of workout.

7. OWNER RIDER AWARD

7.1. All Saddle Horse and Show Hunter classes (including children’s classes) will have the opportunity for the Highest Placed Owner Rider to win this award.

7.2. The entered horse must be owned at the time of competition by the rider or the riders’ immediate family (eg: father, mother, brother, sister).

7.3. Nominations for Owner/Rider Awards must be made at the time of entry and must be withdrawn in the event that a horse/rider combination ceases to eligible.

8. DRUG RULES AND DRUG TESTING

8.1. Sections 7 – 7.8 inclusive of the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc Competition Rules apply. These rules are intended to ensure that all horses shall perform at the time of competition without any prohibited or banned substances within their system and they will be enforced.

8.2. A SHCA Treatment Sheet is required to be lodged for any horse that has been administered any Treatment, Foreign Substance, Medication, Drug, Prohibited or Banned Substance, within 30 days prior to and/or on the day of competition.

8.3. The onus is on the Responsible Officer/Owner/Competitor/Exhibitor to lodge a Treatment Sheet for any horse he/she has entered/competed in this event. Any supporting Veterinary information must be submitted along with the Treatment Sheet and within the time prescribed. The Treatment Sheet shall be completed IN ALL RESPECTS and lodged as follows:

8.3.1. Prior to the event, email submission to the SHCA Office [email protected]

8.3.2. From 24 March 2019, submit to the Event Office on site.

8.4. An incomplete or incorrect Treatment Sheet may be rejected and if that occurs the exhibit shall be ineligible to compete.

8.5. Where a Treatment Sheet is lodged, the Ringmaster will advise the Exhibitor/Responsible Officer of the Ground Jury’s decision as to whether or not the horse will be permitted to compete.

8.6. Lodging of a Treatment Sheet does not release an Exhibit from being Drug Tested, nor from Disciplinary Action by the SHCA should a positive result to a Prohibited or Banned substance occur.

8.7. Failure to submit a treatment sheet in accordance with these Rules, the Rules of the Show and the Treatment Sheet, shall be considered a breach of these rules and penalty/s will apply.

8.8. It is the obligation of the Owner &/or Responsible Officer &/or Exhibitor of the horse, and not the SHCA, to ensure that the horse is eligible to compete.

9. BEHAVIOUR

9.1. The Show Horse Council shall not be responsible for the loss of, or for any damage or injury occasioned to any Exhibit or the property of any Exhibitors from any cause whatsoever.

9.2. Exhibitors/Competitors enter & compete at their own risk.

9.3. Dress: as per Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc Competition Rules.

9.4. Attention is drawn to SHCA Competition Rules applying to bits, whips and prohibited gear. These Rules will be enforced by the appropriate Ring Officials.

9.5. Dummy or Roller Ball Spurs not exceeding 2cm in length are permitted. Any other type of spur is not permitted.

9.6. The Judge’s decision is final.

9.7. No outside assistance is to be displayed during competition or in the Marshalling Yard, a penalty of disqualification may apply to a breach of this Regulation.

9.8. All protests shall be in writing accompanied by a fee of $100 GST Incl. & be in the hands of the Ground Jury no later than one hour after the class, after which no protest shall be entered.

9.9. Unruly behavior from a spectator or connection of an entrant which could disrupt competition &/or cause a disturbance will not be tolerated. Any persons involved in such behavior will be escorted from the premises forthwith.

9.10. The policy will be enforced that during a competition if the first request to an Exhibitor/Competitor to comply with Rules &/or instructions of a Show Official is not followed a YELLOW Warning Card will be issued, and further non compliance shall incur disqualification

9.11. Riders of all horses being exercised on the premises are required to wear A.S.A. approved safety harness headgear & appropriate riding boots at all times.

9.12. The jurisdiction of the Ground Jury applies for 30 days prior to and for 30 days after the event or until resolution of any matter pertaining to the Event on which it is adjudicating.

10. FACILITIES

10.1. No entry to the grounds will be permitted prior to 8.30am Sunday 24 March 2019.

10.2. Stable Warden Office will be situated in the covered area opposite the Mess Hall.

10.3. Bump in Sunday 24 March between 8.30am & 7.00pm.

10.4. Bump in Monday 25 March to Sunday 30 March between 6.30am & 7.00pm.

10.5. No horse arrivals will be permitted to the venue outside these hours.

10.6. Camping will be allocated by the SHCA, any unauthorized use of sites will incur disciplinary action.

10.7. All requirements of the Venue Management shall be strictly adhered to.

10.8. Stables at the venue will be allocated by the SHCA at its discretion. Stable numbers will be issued on arrival by the Stable Warden; every effort will be made to satisfy special requests however we may be unable to meet all requests. A stable day is considered to be from 6.00pm to 6.00pm.

10.9. Shavings are to be pre-ordered at time of entry; any shavings not pre-ordered will not be available for delivery on Monday or Tuesday. Top up orders will be delivered from Wednesday.

10.10. Bond as set by S.I.E.C. of $79 per stable will be payable with entry fees. Bank details to be provided on stable form to allow refund (with in 48hrs) after inspection of stable on departure. Due to demand, follow on bookings may occur on short stay stables; if this occurs shavings order for second booking will be issued by the Stable warden on arrival.

10.11. Bond of $10 payable on each Hut Key when issued & refunded upon its return.

10.12. When departing, SIEC will carry out inspection of stable/s, all bedding to be removed & placed in bins provided. Upon inspection, if the stable is undamaged & cleanliness is passed by SIEC as satisfactory by the Stable Warden, bond refunds will be deposited into the nominated bank account of competitors.

10.13. For administrative purposes, exhibitors are required to advise the Stable Warden if their horse is vacating its stable overnight but returning to further use the stable.

10.14. Stables & /or huts allocated to an exhibitor/competitor may not be transferred to another exhibitor/competitor except where re-allocated by the Council.

10.15. Cancellation of stables/shavings/huts/camping must be notified in writing to the Secretary no later than Friday 22 February 2019 or no refund will be due. A $50 handling fee will apply to any such cancellations.

10.16. Ground usage fee of $20 will apply to all exhibitors

10.17. Day parking - for horses not stabled - $15 fee will apply per horse for each day on the grounds.

10.18. Camping space for trucks/floats/caravans will be allocated in advance by SHCA in accordance with SIEC numbered site plan & size of vehicle, any unauthorized use of sites will incur disciplinary action.

10.19. A camping vehicle sticker/pass will be included in your competitor’s pack & available on arrival from the Show Office. Stickers must be displayed on vehicle; no unauthorised camping will be permitted.

10.20. Sites will be allocated taking into consideration availability, size of vehicle, length of stay & distance travelled. Limit of one (1) camp site per booking

10.21. A limited number of huts with two single beds are available on site, bring own linen & blankets etc.

10.22. Amenities block & mess hall on site. If insufficient huts to meet demand, preference will be given to Interstate exhibitors with stabled horse/s & requiring multiple nights. Limit of one (1) hut only per booking.

10.23. Please Note: due to limited facilities entries in children's classes Tuesday/Wednesday will not be allocated horse or rider accommodation for full period of the show unless the horse is entered in other classes.

10.24. Horses stabled overnight are not to be left without arrangement in place for an emergency contact person on site.

10.25. All instructions of the Stable Wardens & Show Officials are to be followed.

10.26. Training areas are available as per the following schedule

10.26.1. Monday – Arena 3, 4 & 11, plus walking paths

10.26.2. Tuesday, Wednesday – Thursday, Friday, Saturday– Arena 3, 4, 11 & Lunging area.

10.26.3. All other areas are OFF LIMITS.

10.27. A working roster will operate for practice in the Indoor Arena - the timetable for practice will be up on the SHCA website preceding the event and on display at the Show.

10.28. Riders are requested to exercise caution at all times, at discretion of Show Officials numbers exercising will be controlled at any one time.

10.29. Where the timetable allows, entries for the upcoming class if presented as for competition, will be permitted to warm up. In addition, two outside arenas will be available throughout the day. Lunging is only permitted in the designated areas.

10.30. Venue requirements: Dogs must be kept on a lead and under restraint at all times or be removed from venue.

10.31. Private buggies must only be driven by a licensed driver.

10.32. Skateboards & bicycles not permitted in stable area.

10.33. SEGWAYS are prohibited at this venue.

10.34. DPI Guidelines on Bio Security will apply to this Event, please refer to the current status on Hendra Virus. If your horse has been immunised, please have proof of vaccination available.

10.35. The SHCA Risk Management policy applies to all persons competing &/or attending the event. A copy of this policy will be available at the Show Office throughout the show.
