Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton Commends

Wauwatosa Biotechnology Company InvivoSciences for National and State

Awards MADISON – Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton today commended InvivoSciences LLC., a women-led bioscience company based in Wauwatosa, for its selection as one of the top three most promising technologies in the United States at the Worlds Best Technology Showcase (WBTshowcase) in Arlington, Texas. Investors, licensing scouts and tech-commercialization experts from across the country selected InvivoSciences from a pool of 450 technology companies to receive its gold prize. InvivoSciences earned additional recognition last month when Bioforward selected it as the winner of its 2009 Emerging Biotechnology Showcase. “I congratulate InvivoSciences for its recent recognition as a state and national leader in the biotechnology sector, an industry that is central to Wisconsin’s economic future,” said Lawton. “InvivoSciences is exemplary of our state’s proud history of entrepreneurism, and is well-positioned to secure Wisconsin’s leadership in the life sciences. It’s in our “DNA” – from the discovery of vitamins A & B to the isolation of the first human stem cells. InvivoScience’s cutting-edge research promises to transform drug discovery in the United States, all the while creating high-paying jobs for Wisconsin residents.” Since 2002, the WBTshowcase has served as the world’s premier platform to expose undiscovered breakthrough energy, life science, IT, and physical science technologies emerging from top universities, labs and research institutions. InvivoSciences presented its research to an audience of more than 100 venture capitalists and Fortune 500 licensees.

After its presentation, the company won the gold award for its development of screening chemicals that aid in discovering new drugs and identifying toxic compounds. InvivoSciences’ tissue constructs provide researchers with screening strategies that can assess the efficacies of new drugs in detection environments that require less time and cost than corresponding studies using animal models. “InvivoSciences is proud and humbled to be among the top three companies receiving

awards at the WBTshowcase,” said CEO and Co-Founder Ayla Annac. “As a start-up company looking toward the next stage of commercialization, this award will be critical to

receiving confidence in our technology and business model from our customers as well as federal and private investment communities.” Last month, Lt. Governor Lawton promoted Wisconsin as a life sciences hub as a keynote speaker at Springboard Enterprises’ “All Things Life Sciences” forum in Madison.
