IONICS power supplies employ the Switch Mode technology unless otherwise specified. These power supplies incorporate PWM-controlled switch mode technique using IGBTs and a high frequency ferrite core transformer followed by a voltage multiplier. Depending on the voltage and wattage range, IONICS power supplies employ air, epoxy or oil as the primary insulating medium.

This series of power supplies consists of standard DC regulated high voltage power supplies for general applications.

• Output Voltage Range : Upto 250kV DC

• Output Power : Upto 150kW

• Regulation (Line and Load) : 0.05% to 0.005%

• Ripple (RMS) : 0.1% to 0.05%

• Stability : Upto 0.01% per hour after ½ hour warm-up,

Battery Powered High Voltage Power Supplies

This series of power supplies consists of standard DC regulated high voltage power supplies that use standard 12V/24V/48V battery as the input power source.

• Output Voltage Range : Upto 100kV DC

• Output Power : Upto 500W

• Regulation (Line and Load) : 0.05% to 0.005%

• Ripple (RMS) : 0.1% to 0.05%

Dual Polarity Power Supplies

This series of power supplies can generate two independent outputs of both positive and negative polarities in the same power supply and can be controlled by a single potentiometer.

• Output Voltage Range : Upto 100kV DC

• Regulation (Line and Load) : 0.05% to 0.005%

• Ripple (RMS) : 0.1% to 0.05%

• Number of Outputs : Two

• Polarity : Positive and Negative

Reversible Power Supplies

This series of power supplies will have both polarities but either one can be operated at one time.

• Output Voltage Range : Upto 150kV DC

• Regulation (Line and Load) : 0.05% to 0.005%

• Ripple (RMS) : 0.1% to 0.05%

• Number of Outputs : One

• Polarity : Positive or Negative selectable through a switch

This series of power supplies can generate output that ranges from negative to positive polarities or vice versa in the same power supply.

• Number of Outputs : One

• Polarity : Negative to Positive or vice versa automatically

Regulated Filament Power Supply Floating on High Voltage

This series of power supplies are filament power supplies that float on high voltage upto 150kV. The voltage/current settings and the displays are at ground potential. These power supplies are used in high powered microwave and RF tubes.

• Output Current Range : Upto 1000A AC/DC

• Regulation (Line and Load) : 0.1% to 1%

• Floating Voltage : Upto 150kV

• Voltage and Current Setting : At ground potential through

optical fibre links

High Voltage Sine Wave Output AC Power Supply

This series of power supplies generate high voltage pure sine wave output at variable frequency. These power supplies are used for beam deflection systems, plasma drivers, etc.

• Output Voltage : Upto 20kV

• Output Waveform : Pure Sine Wave

• Frequency : Upto 50kHz

Miniature High Voltage Modules

The miniature high voltage modules are characterized by very small form factors and are epoxy encapsulated with input-output flying leads.

Continuous X- Ray

This series of solid state X-Ray generators are used for continuous X-Ray generation which are used in Radiographic Testing, Baggage Scanning, X-Ray Diffraction, X-Ray Fluorescence, etc.

Medical X-Ray

This series of ultra high frequency X-Ray generators are suitable for Fluoroscopy, Radiography, Mammography, etc.

This series of power supplies consists of standard DC regulated high current power supplies for general applications.

Asymmetric Bipolar Pulsed Power Supplies

This series of power supplies generate alternate pulses of opposite polarities. The output voltage, pulse width and the pulse frequency are all selectable through 10 turn potentiometers and switches.

• Output Voltage : Upto 750V

• Output Power : Upto 5kW

• Frequency : DC to 150kHz

• Pulse Width : 10% to 40%

Application Specific Power Supplies

Scanning Electron Microscopes

Power supplies for SEMs are integrated systems consisting of multiple power supplies (high voltage power supply and filament supply floating on high voltage) that are characterized by extremely high regulation and stability.

• Voltage Regulation (Line and Load) : 0.005%

• Current Regulation (Line and Load) : 0.01%

• Stability : Upto 0.01% per hour after ½ hour warm-up, 0.05% per 8 hours

Capacitor Charging Power Supplies and Capacitor Discharging Systems

Capacitor charging and discharging applications require special protections from back EMF that occurs during the capacitor discharging process. IONICS has developed and delivered many units with inbuilt protection especially for capacitor charging and discharging applications. Capacitor discharging incorporates Ignitrons, Spark Gaps and fast acting Dump Switches.

Electron Beam Welding and Electron Beam Melting

Electron beam welding (EBW) is a fusion welding process in which a beam of high velocity electrons is applied to the materials being joined. The work-pieces melt as the kinetic energy of the electrons is transformed into heat upon impact. Electron beam welding (EBW) is used mainly for fabricating structures that have stringent quality, strength, and joint reliability requirements. This process is mainly used in industries such as aerospace, shipbuilding, defense applications and instrument manufacturing.

The power supplies developed by IONICS specifically for the EBW applications consists of the following

• Acceleration voltage power supply : Output Voltage upto 150kV, Output Power 150kW

• Filament supply

• Focus supply

• Beam deflection supplies

• Beam oscillation supply

• Bias supply

Based on the end application, the auxiliary power supplies either operate at ground potential or float on high voltage.

High Tension Electrostatic Separators

An electrostatic separator is a device for separating particles by mass in a low energy charged beam. It works on the principle of corona discharge, where two plates are placed close together and high voltage is applied. This high voltage is used to separate the ionized particles.

IONICS has developed a range of rugged voltage-current regulated power supplies in the range of 20kV to 60kV that are tailor made for these applications. The power supplies are designed to withstand intense arcing conditions which are a regular feature of these applications and can withstand hot and dusty environment which is very common for a separator unit.

Asymmetric Bipolar Pulsed Power Supplies for Sputtering Systems

Asymmetric Bipolar Pulsed DC power supplies are based on the technique of adding a reverse voltage bias pulse to the normal DC waveform. Pulse frequency and duty cycle can be varied to optimize the process for a specific cathode target material and ultimately, the relevant properties of the deposited films.

IONICS has developed asymmetric bipolar pulsed power supplies for sputtering applications. In addition to the standard voltage and current controls, the frequency and the pulse width can also be controlled in these power supplies.

Ultra High Frequency X-Ray Generators for Medical X-Rays

IONICS has developed a series of high frequency solid state X-Ray generators for human X-Ray machines. These generators are switched at 100kHz and are housed in very compact units.

Continuous X-Ray Generators for Radiographic Testing (NDT)

This series of ultra high frequency based continuous X-Ray generators are used for Radiographic Testing (RT) which is a non destructive testing (NDT) method of inspecting materials for hidden flaws by using short wavelength electromagnetic radiation.

Continuous X-Ray Generators for X-Ray Diffraction and X-Ray Fluorescence

XRD and XRF need special desktop power supplies that are highly regulated, has low ripple and are highly stable. IONICS has developed and also replaced many imported power supplies with IONICS make power supplies in XRD and XRF machines.
