To our new competence center about the Internet of Things.

This will be a very interactive CC, aside our main theoretical sessions, we will also hold smaller and shorter practical sessions.

Internet of Things

“IoT describes a system where items in the physical world, and sensors within or attached to these items, are connected to the Internet via wireless and wired Internet connections.”

Internet of things is a very broad term. It consists of a very wide range of devices and technologies.

IoT is also not a new concept. However in recent years with advancements and general availability of easy to setup devices and technologies it has gained enormously in popularity.

Classifying IoT

IoT is very broad, but with some effort it is possible to see roughly 4 categories:

▪ Media ▪ Wearables▪ Automation▪ Sensors and tracking

These categories do overlap, intertwine and most projects with IoT will consist of one or more of these categories

The bigger picture

In this CC we will strive to see the bigger picture of IoT. Among others we will find out how to combine all the different aspects and find business use cases.

We will have more information about this soon. But first let us focus on the individual aspects of IoT.
