Fencing allows to capture
the location of an asset or
device (considering the
coordinates of a particular
area) with the aim to create
automatic alerts when a
vehicle deviates from a
specific path, as it bring
delay in delivery time and
cause accidental loss.

IoT Application projects in Trenitalia
Trenitalia has implemented IoT application on predictive maintenance and on board efficiency management with DMMS project and EU Horizon 2020 CHARIOT
IoT System that allows real-time monitoring of vehicle status
remotely to enforce safety and operations.
By detecting certain behavior parameters overcoming
threshold values that indicate an imminent failure, DMMS
Platform can push for proactive responses before the failure
causes stops and disservices

IoT Application projects in Trenitalia- DMMS (1/2)
DMMS is the innovative Trenitalia project that uses IoT Technology, Predictive Analysissoftware and Big Data.
As a cutting edge system DMMS is based on the presence of a large number of sensors, necessary to record a series on board operational parameters (temperatures, pressures) that are processed by the big data processing platform. In this way useful indications for maintenance decisions and actions are
quickly provided. The project will support the evolution from an inefficient and expensive static maintenance program
scheme, to new maintenance management processes based on the dynamic and real-time analysis of the usage status of railway equipment
Sensor data are stored in a single environment
Algorithms allow to correctly address maintenance activities
Data are processed to optimize maintenance programs
