America the Beautiful – use the Carmen Dragon arrangement. It will be accompanied by the band.
Ave Maria – NW, NC, NE Districts should prepare Choir 1 parts; SW,SC,SE Districts should prepare Choir 2 parts. All State Pianists The 2012 Festival will need 3 piano players. Students auditioning for All State Pianist must be an eligible member of the school’s band, chorus, or orchestra. Two pianists will be selected as accompanists for the All State Chorus and one will be selected for the Orchestra. The registration fee does NOT cover the cost of the music for the All State piano players. You can purchase the choral music, including the patriotic songs from Kephart’s Music (1-800-369-9633). The piano music for the orchestra must be obtained by contacting the IHSMA office. Those who audition will need to learn BOTH the primo and secondo part for Skip to My Lou. They also need to know the patriotic numbers. First round auditions are held Sat., Oct. 20 at the six district audition sites. Second round auditions will be held 11 a.m. on Wed. Creole, the native tongue of Haiti, derives its linguistic roots from French. As a result, many of the pronunciation rules for French can be applied to Creole. Remember, IPA can only give general vowel sounds and not the color; for example, the differences in the [] sound in French and German. So although Creole is derived from French and shares several pronunciation “rules,” in general the vowels are much brighter. Also, there are no schwa/neutral sounds in Creole.
