IPSO – International Psychoanalytical Studies Organization
IPSO is the IPA’s candidate organization, established in 1971. IPSO members serve on many IPACommittees and jointly organize the biennial IPA-IPSO Congress. IPSO forwards to the IPA president anymembers who are interested in serving on an IPA Committee. The IPSO member of a committee is a fullvoting member of the Committee.
What in the world are “Broomhills” and “Lexicon”?In the UK, office buildings are traditionally given names. For about 30 years, the IPA headquarters were located in the outskirts of London and the building was called “Broomhills.”
Because of Broomhills’ relative inaccessibility, the IPA decided to move to a more central location in London. The name of the new headquarters building is “Lexicon.”
The three slides following show our new headquarters—an view of the modern building, a beautiful view from the building and the conference room.
One of the reasons the IPA moved into the center of the city was so that headquarters would be more accessible to members. Next time you’re in London, stop by to visit.

Getting Engaged
Start by going to the IPA website(www.ipa.world) and click on IPA in the menu
at the top of the home page. Scroll down to committees, click on that and then
you have a choice. You can either enter the name of the committee you want to
look up or click on a full alphabetical list of committees.
Click on the committee you are interested in and you will see the mandate of
the committee and the members of the committee.
My aim for North America, shared by our president Virginia Ungar and the vice-
president Sergio Nick, is to make is to make access to the IPA as user friendly
as possible. We are working to make it easier for members to engage with the
various committees and be informed about their work.
