1. Cheat Sheet page 1

This sheet contains instructions for the Warm-Up tasks. Try to do the tasks without using these instructions first, if you can. Use the Video iPad for video tutorial help.

1. To view the most recently used applications, double-tap the Home button (the round white button at the bottom).

2. To search your iPad, make sure you are not in an app. Starting from the middle of the screen, swipe one finger straight down about 1 inch. Type in your search terms.

3. To create a folder for 2+ apps, hold one finger down on an app until it starts shaking. Drag that app on top of another to create a folder.

4. To take a screenshot, press the Home button and On/Off button at the same time. A picture of your screen will be saved to your Photos app Camera Roll album.

5. To lock your screen orientation, put one finger on the white frame of the iPad at the bottom. Swipe

up about 1 inch. Tap this symbol:

6. To go to a website, open the Safari app and type the address in the bar at the top of the screen. To

bookmark it, click the “Share square” then Bookmark.

7. To copy a sentence, first select it by double-tapping a word, then moving the small blue circles to the

start and end of the sentence. Tap Copy. To paste, open the Notes app. Hold your cursor down on

the note for half a second, then tap Paste.

8. To select the sentence and "Speak" it, you need to first visit your Settings app. In Settings, click

General, then Accessibility, then Speak Selection. Flip the switch to on. Return to the Notes app and

select the sentence. Tap the word Speak.

2. Install AppsTo install apps:1. Open the App Store.2. Type the name of the app in the

gray search box (upper right corner).

3. Find the correct app in the list. Tap the word FREE, then INSTALL.

4. Enter your Apple ID password and tap OK.

Install the following free apps on your iPad:● QR Reader

● Atomic Learning

● Skitch

● EDUCreations

● Google Drive

● Google Docs

3. Use a QR CodeInstructions: Open the QR Reader app. Point the iPad camera at one of the QR codes on the next page. One should take you to some written text. The other should take you to a video. Watch the video. That’s all!

5. Take a Picture of a Worksheet

5. Take a Picture of a WorksheetInstructions: Take a picture of one of the worksheets at the table. To use the iPad camera, open the Camera app. Keep the worksheet flat on the table, and try to frame the picture around the edges of the sheet. Press the white capture circle to take the picture.

Advanced Option: Create a PDF of the worksheet using the QR Reader app’s “Scan to PDF” option.

6. Annotate on an ImageInstructions: Open the Skitch app. Scroll to “Photos” in the list at the bottom of the screen. Tap “Camera Roll,” then tap on the worksheet picture you took at station #5. You can now annotate on the image. Change the color by tapping the colored circle on the left side of the screen. Change the tool by tapping on the circle on the right side of the screen. See the help sheet.

Advanced Option: Annotate on a map or website with Skitch.

Search for a specific app you hope to use and star the video so that you can watch it later. After your first log-in, Beth can assign specific videos to you.
